Description

Our Rare Plant Collection has been carefully crafted and hand-selected by experts from our sources around the world. These rare plants are available to avid plant collectors and the "plant curious" alike. These unusual varieties are grown using quality practices to ensure healthy, mature plants. This plant needs to be kept consistently moist, but not wet. They should be allowed to retain a small amount of moisture at all times. That said you need to be careful that it does not dry rot. Using a liquid fertilizer, which contains a more or less equal ratio of Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium will work best. Fertilize about once every 6 weeks in the growing season (spring and summer) and once every 8-12 weeks in the autumn and winter. Alocasia Dawn (U.S. Patent Pending NO. 17323485) is a unique plant from the Rare Plant Collection cultivated by Nature’s Way Farms. This plant is a RARE variety grown using the strict quality standards. This striking evergreen plant has large, marbled green and white heart-shaped leaves that are sure to be the focal point of any plant collection. The Alocasia Dawn is a tall and widely spreading plant, your will need ample space to grow. Fully grown, they can be as tall as 1.6m and almost as wide. They are slow growers so don't worry you have time! Just make sure it has enough space around it to get enough light and air circulation and that other plants do not crowd it. These plants are of tropical nature which makes them very sensitive to colder environments and they start to suffer below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Warm, summery temperatures suit them best and help them thrive. Alocasia Dawn is large, upright plant that does well indoors as well as covered patios provided the necessary conditions are right. They do best in bright, indirect light. Do not place them in direct sunlight. The light needs to be bright but indirect or if indoors, filtered through a curtain or shade cloth to prevent leaves from scorching and burning. Alocasias do not need too much space for their roots to spread. They will do well in a pot that is a snug fit for the root ball. The container must drain well and be a suitable size and weight to support the plant’s height and width, without toppling over. The ideal potting soil is a 5:1:1 mix made by mixing 5-parts bark, 1-part potting soil or peat moss, and 1-part perlite. This creates a light, airy, well-draining mixture that still retains some moisture for slow release. We are a woman-owned, independent quality grower in South Florida. Size: 25-30 in. Tall in Grower Pot
The plant, which arrived in three days, is full, healthy, beautiful, and pest-free. A couple of leaves were broken and the pot was damaged. That was not the fault of the sellers, however, but of Fed Ex, who delivered the box upside down despite the fact that it was clearly marked. I’m very happy with my purchase. UPDATE: As others have said, the plant appeared fine when it arrived but then quickly began dying. It turned out to be seriously rootbound and waterlogged. I have repotted it and put in in a spot that is ideal for its light requirements. I hope it will thrive, but much of its beauty is diminished because of all the dead leaves I had to cut away. Keeping my fingers crossed. ... show more

  • The most Beautiful rare plant I have seen, their service is excellent! The most Beautiful rare plant I have seen, their service is excellent!
Size: 25-30 in. Tall in Grower Pot
Plant arrived quickly and was well packed. Fed Ex did not Handle with care as package was completely dented it on one side. My heart dropped! I carefully opened it up and the plant was wrapped in paper and another layer of cardboard. The plant was covered all over in soil, i think i was during the shipping , but i was able to brush it off. The planter pot it came in was dented, but thank goodness no leaves seem affected. Hopefully no damage to roots... Over all beautiful plant....but Fed Ex needs to "handle these boxes with care" ***Update, Got home from work, notice rips in plant where the leaves where creased and folded, some of the leave got really soft and are wilting** tryin to see if the seller can assist. Its really a beauty but im so sad this happened! ***Final Update, the seller went above and beyond to make things right, even though it was a shipping issue! I’m forever grateful! Thank you so much ! ... show more

  • Not a happy costumer
Size: 18-24 in. Tall in Grower Pot
I dont know what it is with this plant, i just cant get a good one, i love the plant because its very pretty, bit it does not stay that way for long, after a day or so alot of the leaves start to turn color an die an this just continues i paid $90 for this plant an i am so disappointed.. plus it just dont look like the pictures an it is not the size that was described, whats up with that?? I buy all of my plants on line and most of the live give or take 1 or 2,, so i cant blame on-line ordering.. This plant is just too expensive to just die like that.. i brought one for my mother for mothers day.. yes!! I did go back an purchase another one wen i got mines because like i said the plant is pretty, even tho its not as shown on line.. I got my mothers for $50 on sale plus tax. Way cheaper than mines.. well that was a mistake because as I stated mines started to die, because of that I didn’t give my mother hers for mother’s day, i wanted to see if the same would happened, an it sure did, the plant came looking ok an it had a few brown spot an i said ok, just cut those, a few day later that same thing started to happen with her plant as well. Glad I didn’t give it to my mother..very disappointed!!! I spent alot of money on 2 plants that are both on the brink of death.. :( ... show more

  • Happy with my purchase. Happy with my purchase.
Size: 18-24 in. Tall in Grower Pot
Pic 1-2 day it arrived: a hint stressed as expected but very full and healthy. I lost about 4 leaves but it pushed out new growth quickly. Pic 3-4: I split the plant in half after 3 weeks. There were 5 plants in the pot so I split into 3 and 2, respectively. I also recovered 8 corms. (Not saying every plant will be so plentiful but I was this lucky.) Pics 5-6: beautiful variegation. Of course some completely white leaves are noticeable in the other pics. Overall for the price I paid, to get 5 plants that are healthy and 8 corms to try and grow, I found it to be worth it. ... show more

  • Gorgeous plant Gorgeous plant
Size: 25-30 in. Tall in Grower Pot
I purchased the larger version and it was absolutely stunning. It’s a very beautiful impressive plant. The leaves are damage free and full of variegation. Judging by the images, I was expecting the leaves to be larger and the plant to be taller. It is definitely on the smaller side of the measurements. The packaging was ok, however the plastic pot was crushed beyond use inside the box which was strangely not crushed at all. So I do believe that happened during the packing process. Other than that, I’m very pleased. Still have to give it 5 stars for the access to such a magnificent plant at a price that won’t break the bank. ... show more

  • Beautiful!! Bigger than expected! Beautiful!! Bigger than expected!
Size: 18-24 in. Tall in Grower Pot
I am in love with the new addition to my collection. I ordered the Alocasia Dawn (the smaller one). I was lucky enough to catch it on sale, but honestly it would’ve been worth full price. It came in fantastic shape, very full, healthy and lush. It had new growth already. The leaves are big, some bigger than my hand already also. The variegation is so cool! Seriously, I am in love with it. ... show more

  • Got on sale, so unique. But didn’t live long. Too expensive. Got on sale, so unique. But didn’t live long. Too expensive.
Size: 25-30 in. Tall in Grower Pot
This was so lovely at first. But slowly leaves kept turning brown and wilting and dying. I have followed all instructions. Used perlite to keep white areas from turning brown. Kept in partial sun. Have moved locations several times. Foliage plant food and regular watering. I would not purchase this again due to huge expense and it not living very long. ... show more

  • Root Rot
Size: 25-30 in. Tall in Grower Pot
My husband purchased for me as a Christmas gift. It was absolutely gorgeous when I opened it. It was cold so it had lost a few leaves. Over the next couple days it lost some more. I decided to check the roots and the tips of most of the roots had started to rot. Very disappointed for a plant that cost so much. I hope I was able to save it. Posting pics of when I first got it vs now ... show more
