I did not find it very effective in picking coin size pieces of metal hidden under a few inches of pillow filler fibe in the house flooring. If the intensity is increased too much, it does pick but also picks objects (probably screws etc.) from its surroundings. It may perform well outside.

Very easy to set up, my son is 9 and likes oak island and looking for treasure. This took 5 minutes to learn how to use for a 9year old. It is pretty accurate, not 100% but perfect for my son to use to find “treasure” in our back yard and at the park. He is very excited and I was surprised it actually worked. This will be the second one I am buying the first one broke on me but the simplicity of it and the fact I’m only using it for work ( plus the price) I decided to buy the same one again. It looks good and works good but I had to use the battery from my old one because for some reason the battery didn’t come with this one even though it states is should. For kids investigating the backyard you will find lost toys, washers and all kinds of metal bits. Probably not a sophisticated tool for treasure hunting but fun for kids imagination. You might want to hide treasure ahead of time to avoid them coming up empty 🙂

It works....ish.... It is very cheap. Lightweight plastic. There's no in between with it when it comes to volume, sensitivity, etc. Definitely for little kids beginning this. My kids got the jist easily, could hold it no problems, and we found stuff near the top of the ground level. Just remember this is VERY BASIC when buying. ... show more
