This is a waste of materials, money, and shipping. It’s a glorified baking soda experiment. The “lava” effect wares off in 20 minutes and you’ve got to keep feeding it to keep it going. Once you’re out of mix it’s just a crappy lamp that barely sheds any light at all. Daughter loved putting it together, but let’s be straight, this is not a lava lamp. It’s a $20 disposable baking soda experiment. Additionally, unaware visually impaired seniors beware, the measuring spoon included is a tablespoon, not a teaspoon. The recipe calls for a teaspoon. My stepdad and daughter wasted half the mix because he didn’t notice. User error, but still. All around extremely disappointing. We’ll be pursuing a refund. Christmas is too expensive to waste money on something like this. ... show more

    • This is not a lava lamp
It’s not a lava lamp. There’s a 1 1/2 chemical reaction than it’s done. You don’t get the continuous flow that makes it a lava lamp. Definitely a waste of money and poor quality. It does not function as it is supposed to.

    • Waste of money and supplies
My daughter really loved making the lava lamp but it only lasted a few min. Within 15 minutes the stuff that makes it bubble was done and now it’s just a weird lamp with very little light and dirty looking water/oil. Also, the light doesn’t work every time. Overall it seems like a waste of $20 and oil for 5 min of enjoyment. ... show more

    • Cool - Except One Thing…
The stickers it comes with are a hella pain to align correctly when placing on the base and top. Also, good luck trying to take them off and realign them, because they’re really stuck on and just halfway rip off. Luckily, I was able to use some of the extra stickers it came with to cut to size and rig a base and top cover over the torn ones. ... show more

    • Doesn't work as a legit Lava Lamp, and needs additives that fizzle out to get the "bubbling" at all.
Got this as a Christmas gift. Was a disappointment. Bought here cause other retailer was out, and this was a item the person I got it for wanted. Was slightly cheaper here too. But when you think of a Lava Lamp, even one you make at home; you think of the traditional lamps everyone does. But this one did not work the same. Uses chemicals to make it look like a lava lamp. Once they activate, they in time stop working. Cause you to have to add more to get the "bubbling" effect to work. So you would need to buy more of these chemical additives to keep using the lamp. Otherwise is looks like a bottle of vinaigrette salad dressing with the liquids separated. The stickers also did not stick well. The person first loved it, then as they put it together became slightly frustrated. Then once used, became as described; disappointed at the finished lamp. Great idea, but bad design. Maybe if it came with the more actual liquids for a Lava Lamp, or a way to actually make a Lava Lamp it be much better. Otherwise is like like having a object just look like what you really wanted. ... show more
