I got the non-stick version of this item a few years ago and loved it until the finish started chipping all over the place and getting in our food. This stainless steel version is quite a bit more expensive, but I decided to get it because it should last for a very long time, presumably the rest of my lifetime. I absolutely love this pot and would highly recommend it to anyone as a fantastic investment. It cooks beautifully and is a pleasure to use. The only thing I don't like is the solid lid. Fortunately, the glass one from my old non-stick version is the same size, so I use that one with this pot instead of the one that came with it. Since it was on sale for 199, I decided to purchase it, plus I have decided 4 qt is perfect size when accompied by a smaller 1.5 to 2 qt sauce pan and a 8 qt. This is well made in stainless steel, heats up well and perfect for boiling water for pasta. The look is great and should last for very many years. I have one other all clad pot I really love. This All Clad pot really has many layers, and it cooks super evenly. It is old school well built and beautiful to look at on the stove top. Simple to clean and use. If you must have really good cooking pots, this one will work fine and make you happy every time you cook with it. Enjoy!

SIZE - We measured several old Calphalon pots, so as to get the exact same size. Well, since these All-Clad pots have thicker sides and bottom, plus they have a fluted top, using a simple height/width measurement from an existing pot means you get a smaller All-Clad pot. PRICE - The price of these pots, especially the larger ones, is ridiculous. A set of pots & pans should not cost as much as a used car.
