This set is amazing. Have been using it now for a couple months. The heat distribution on htese pans is amazing. Cooks everything from steaks to eggs to liquids with ease. Clean-up is also very easy if you follow a few tips. Always pre-heat the pan, then throw in a little butter for all frying, or oil if that is your preference, after it is hot. I never use high heat unless I am boiling pasta or cooking liquids. Medium heat (I have a gas stove) work great and gets super hot with a great sear. Let it cool down afterwards then soak in soapy water. You can clean with steel wool, SOS pads or a scrubber sponge. SOS pads work the best or steel wool. Then dry afterwards. Very solid cookware and high quality construction. Wanted to stop using any nonstick coatings that obviously over time you ingest with your food (just look at your old pans). Love the handle ergonomics. You get great leverage even with a full pot/pan. Also I'm cooking on lower heat now with my gas stove because of the excellent heat distribution. I have found that cleanup is just as easy. If something does stick - just boil some water in the pan and its clean. With that said potatoes and eggs are a bit tricky - other than than cook away. ... show more

We moved into a new house, and, lo&behold, it had an induction cook top. So, the old aluminum-bottom Farberware wasn't gonna cut it. I'd been wanting some real cookware anyway--our old set was from our 50-yrs-ago wedding presents, had served us well, but had some issues, chiefly cracking handles. You'd think you could get replacements, but not so. But I digress. These All-clad pans are the bomb. I don't care that much about their looks, but they look great. And they work better than any pots and pans I've ever owned. Just fabulous. Tight lids. Solid handles. Perfect balance. The no-drip edge really doesn't drip. And the heat distribution---wow, it's really outstanding. I'm used to my old cast iron pans, which are pretty great, but still have some hot spots here and there. Not these All-clads, they're about perfect. Yes, they're expensive. But in this case you really do get what you pay for. I'm sure there are good options for less. But I'll remember those terrible Farberware handles, and their ugly warped bottoms, for the rest of my life, and, I already can't remember how much I paid for the All-clads. I couldn't be happier with them. Incidentally, if you're considering induction--quit considering and take the plunge. I've been a gas cooktop guy all my life, and have hated every electric stove I've ever used. But induction is best of both worlds. You get instant heat, but easy clean. I can put a quart of water on one of these induction burners and it's boiling in a couple minutes. My massive cast iron egg pan is ready to go in the time it takes to get the eggs out. I often boil a little water on the stove to wash a dish or two, coz it's faster than waiting for the hot water at the tap. Good thing the smooth glass top is easy to clean, coz it's super easy to have a boilover. The heat comes on so fast and so hot; it takes some getting used to. Heavier weight than expected, and heats quickly. All worked well on my induction cooktop, except the small frying pan. Not sure if the pan or cooktop is at fault. Overall happy.

This is my first set of upper tier cookware and it’s worth every penny. The only thing I would improve is leaving out the 8” fry pan and include the 12” in its place (I ended up purchasing it separately). Great selection of pieces otherwise.

    • Learn to cook with stainless steel

Biggest takeaway is learning how to cook with stainless steel - you cannot do the same as regular teflon. So once you figure out how to cook and clean with these, you will LOVE. These are beautiful, incredibly sturdy and durable. Looking forward to using for a long time!

The 10 piece set All Clad 5D was delivered today -- 4 days early. I followed the tracking so I was waiting to receive it. Capital Cookware sold as Used Like New. Packaged beautifully in a heavy duty cardboard box. The box contained an extra top protector piece so the customer would not do damage when slicing open the box. Each piece was separated with plastic bags, bubble wrap and additional cardboard. All were clean and in perfect condition. All 10 pieces were there. The lid for the 3 quart fry pan does fit the 8 inch fry pan. The 10 inch fry pan does not include a lid but one from my Zwilling Henckles set seems to be a close match. Makes you proud to be an American when we make such a high quality product -- packed and delivered with such care. Thank you All Clad, Capital Cookware, UPS and, of course, Amazon. ... show more

    • Cannot use any type of scouring pad

I was very disappointed with this such expensive purchase. The main reason I purchased these is because I wanted something ovenproof. They were not as heavy as I was expecting, I do think they were built well, I did not like how they stain really bad, even with water spots and you cannot get it off and most of all you cannot use any scouring pad on them, if anyone knows when you cook in the oven things splatter and get baked on. I am sure the first time I was to use them for that they would look 10-20 years old. They recommend using a special cleaner they have and they did not mention it would take off baked on or water stains, but who wants to do that, so much for the dishwasher. One of the big lids had a very large stain or scratch on it, do not know which, but I could not clean it off. They recommend drying them after cleaning and if your dishwasher leaves any spots, you would need to take them out after the wash to make sure they were good and dry. The reason I went with these expensive pots and pans is because of the praises it received from American Test Kitchen, guess I will think twice with what they say in the future. I truly want to return them, they are so not worth the price. They say they are for professionals, would hate to see what they looked like after the first use. I do not recommend these in the very least. Will be checking into Calphalon, Demeyere, Mauviel or Scanpan. ... show more
