The negative reviews are misleading. Either people don't know how to cook, how to read, or thought that this set came with a genie. By using the appropriate cooking temperature, lower than what is required for other cookware, pans do not discolor, and food is cooked to perfection. Using excessively high heat will cause your food to stick, burn, and then discolor the pans. The pans will then be difficult to clean. Yes, you should use a stainless steel cleaner such as Bar Keepers Friend. This will ensure that your investment always looks pristine. Anything of value requires care. These pans are not for the novice home cook. Take a cooking class or two, read the care instructions, and stop knocking an excellent product because you thought you could treat this cookware like a $15 pan from Walmart. ... show more

Be careful this cookware is addictive! Since my initial purchase I’ve also bought the 2 quart sauce pan, the 4 quart chef’s pan, and the brushed stainless splatter screen. I’ve had it for almost a year and it’s amazing, any stains or spots are easily cleaned with barkeepers friend - even some bluing on the pan bottom from my gas range. I recently tried putting a couple pieces in the dishwasher and was amazed how they came out spotless and looking brand new. Until now I always hand washed the pieces but it appears the dishwasher is just fine as advertised. I actually look forward to cooking with these pans because it makes it such a pleasure. ... show more

After years of telling myself that someday I would buy some All-Clad cookware, I finally did it. I have waited too long to treat myself to the best and picked a great time to do it. An ugly divorce and a reevaluation of priorities made me decide to upgrade my kitchen tools instead of going on a binge of hookers and blow (just kidding). Less than $600 for a perfect set of the best cookware out there - what a deal. The D5 line is ideal for the home chef who wants to perfect their craft. So far everything has been perfect and has tasted fantastic. At $800 for this set, these pans cannot be beat as they will last forever and perform flawlessly. If you read reviews that are to the contrary, it is because the reviewer does not know how to cook with real, professional grade cookware. No warps, no hot spots, no flaking of cheap non stick surfaces - just superior temperature control and fantastic searing. Cleanup is what you would expect from pans like this and they look brand new after several uses. If all you want is quick cleanup via the dishwasher, buy a cheap set of non-stick pans from the discount store and replace them every year. If you want to hone your skills as a cook or chef, invest in a set of All-Clads and be prepared to be proud of what you plate up for family, friends or just yourself. Part of me wants to buy more All-Clad pans but I haven't began to tap into everything I can do with what I have. Don't wait forever like I did, do it now and get cooking. These are my newest favorite toy, I’m so ashamed to admit I cooked for so long on non-stick, these are far superior. Take the time to look up how to best cook on this type of pan if you’re like me - they are not the same at all. Tips like not adding salt to water until it’s boiling to help prevent spots appearing on pan bottom or not adding oil until pan is hot befor frying are key to avoiding sticking and damage. We purchase this product as a replacement of our old Aluminum nonstick coating pots and pans and wanted something better built and something that will last a long time. While researching we found this brand the major complaint was that it gets stained easily and that even using the All-Clad cleaner. Let me tell you something if you follow the instructions guess what IT WORKS what a surprise don't you think lol, as you can see in the picture after cooking a stake you can see the satin and in the next picture is the same pan after using ALL-Clad Cleaner. Does Work (IF YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS). I recommend this no doubt, keep in mind you have to season the pans it help and it cooks deferent due to how great they are transferring heat.     • Cannot use any type of scouring pad

I was very disappointed with this such expensive purchase. The main reason I purchased these is because I wanted something ovenproof. They were not as heavy as I was expecting, I do think they were built well, I did not like how they stain really bad, even with water spots and you cannot get it off and most of all you cannot use any scouring pad on them, if anyone knows when you cook in the oven things splatter and get baked on. I am sure the first time I was to use them for that they would look 10-20 years old. They recommend using a special cleaner they have and they did not mention it would take off baked on or water stains, but who wants to do that, so much for the dishwasher. One of the big lids had a very large stain or scratch on it, do not know which, but I could not clean it off. They recommend drying them after cleaning and if your dishwasher leaves any spots, you would need to take them out after the wash to make sure they were good and dry. The reason I went with these expensive pots and pans is because of the praises it received from American Test Kitchen, guess I will think twice with what they say in the future. I truly want to return them, they are so not worth the price. They say they are for professionals, would hate to see what they looked like after the first use. I do not recommend these in the very least. Will be checking into Calphalon, Demeyere, Mauviel or Scanpan. ... show more
