    • Not for the faint of heart mechanically
Got it assembled and its ready to install on the house. Instructions are very basic and should probably include details about which direction to assemble the arms and whether or not the arm should face up or down. I'm mechanically inclined so I was able to figure it out. But, even I had to redo a couple of things. So, anyone who's mechanically challenged will probably not fair as well. ... show more

    • Not easy to put together
So my husband and I put this together it is definitely a two-person job and the instructions are less than adequate to get the job done. Thank goodness he's very mechanically inclined and I'm rather handy otherwise this would have been a complete disaster. There are several Key Parts in the instructions that they tend to gloss over and we've never been able to quite get the tension correct on the canopy. There tends to always be a little bit of a wrinkle and it tends to pull to one side I believe that has something to do with when we first rolled it in but I wouldn't know because the directions never indicated a specific way or something to avoid. Once we completed it and got it and place (that in itself was quite the feat it's rather heavy and you can't mount it until it's completely put together) it looked fantastic and does what it's supposed to I believe these are professional kits not for the faint of heart. I think these would be absolutely wonderful and would have given five stars if the directions were more comprehensive and had useful troubleshooting. ... show more

    • Plan on a 6-7 hour installation!
This product is nice, however it has the worst instructions we've ever seen. They were small, hard to read and didn't cover every step. The Youtube video that an unrelated party posted was more help. Hopefully, you can find better videos, if not, plan on LOTS of trials and errors to get the product hung. My husband is a carpenter and he can figure out just about anything, he was very frustrated ... show more

    • Installation instructions not good

So the end product is great! But the installation instructions are not very good. Many helpful details are left out, and the language is translated and not very well. Watch the YouTube video, it helps. Bottom line is it is a great product once you get them installed

Worked great at first but now the awning isn't closing it all the way. There is something wrong with the motor. We've only had it a year

    • Can’t do it alone
Took 3 people to install. 2 months and there’s already problems with it. Don’t Easter your money. Get a sun setter!!!! Headache

    • I should have listened to the other reviewers...
Aleko was very responsive--when I didn't receive the hardware for installing the awning, they shipped out a new set. That was great. But, the bottom line is the directions on setting up the awning were absolutely atrocious. Do not believe the review from the person who said he set it up with his 12 year old niece ( actually, maybe he did, but he wasn't dealing with a 20 foot awning). My awning weighed 90 pounds. It took three grown men to raise it onto the house. Once we had it up and started the motor, the awning came out and went straight down ( to the ground). That happened because there was no "up" indicated on the extension bars. That required taking the whole thing down off the house and changing the direction of the extension bars. Putting it back up ( with three men), it opened correctly, but it was obvious the motor was struggling and not able to retract completely. That was because there was no explicit direction on how to wind the awning into the roller. Fortunately, I was able to figure it all out and replaced the motor and now the awning extends out correctly. But it took way more time than I anticipated and way more effort than I anticipated. Bottom line, I would never buy this product again. There were no directions on installing the awning on the house. I had to go online and see some other directions by Alekoa that told how to do it. And it felt like the whole process was like that. Updated: the new motor broke just like the first one did--and the manual retraction requires the "teeth" of the motor to turn the roller. Since the teeth on the motor broke off (how did they expect a 1/4 plastic piece to withstand the pressure from a 35 pound awning??!!), the awning cannot be retracted. I am taking the whole piece of shit down and sending it back to Aleko). My rating has now fallen to 1 star. If I could give it zero stars, I would. ... show more
