With the exception of the different size spade connection for the overload protector, this Panasonic cord is a direct replacement for the no longer available Kenmore #4151701 power cord used on Kenmore Model 116.56512690. This power cord has a 2 pin male connector at one end and the other end is terminated with a 2 wires – a black and a white. The end of the white wire is stripped bare while the black wire has a narrow (smaller than 1/4”, maybe 3/16”) insulated female spade slip-on connector. The proper connection for the white wire is to the plastic wire nut where 2 other white wires are twisted together (total of 3 when properly completed), while the black female spade connector should replace one of the black spade connectors on the overload protector, sliding on the overload’s existing male connector. However, the Kenmore’s overload has larger size spade connectors than that on the end of the new cord. My solution was to cut the existing black wire of the defective cord at the end of the existing spade connector. I also cut the too small spade connector off the new black wire, stripped it and soldered the new black wire to the old / existing spade connector. This cord now keeps my old Kenmore humming along. One piece of advice is to measure or mark the cord you are replacing as it travels down the short connection tube and meets the body of the vacuum head. You will want to adjust the new cord to this exact length , ensuring that there is sufficient slack for the tube to swivel to its extremes. I did not do this and had to remove some of the powermate’s parts again in order to allow additional slack. Also, the bulb Kenmore # 20-5240 (generic # 15T7DC/130V-HD) is a 15 watt 130 volt bulb vs. the general replacement 120 volt which is much more 'fragile' and will not last as long.     • Generic, unbranded item gets the job done.
The item I received was a clear generic, not an OEM item. The wire colors were different compared to the one it was replacing. It doesn't seem to fit as snugly in the port but does the job just fine. Time will tell whether it holds up as well as the other one did. I have no experience with appliance wiring, but this repair was relatively easy. It took me a while to figure how to get the pieces out on the MC-CG902, so hopefully this will save somebody some time. Once you have the red cover off and you're looking at the guts of the power head, you have to first access the wires by popping out the white plastic and metal carpet height adjustment unit. You remove it by wedging a flat head screwdriver in the space between the grey central nozzle plastic and white plastic of the height adjuster. Apply a little bit of leverage and it pops out, allowing you to access the many wires running underneath, and the old power cord. When re-installing you have to bend and reroute the replacement cord into the grooves as the old one was (it's a very tight fit). If the carpet adjustment piece doesn't snap in cleanly, pop it back out and wedge the power cord in tighter until it does. This power nozzle cord only has two wires. The one with the black connector goes to the reset switch. The other (copper) end goes into a wire nut with two other silver wires (not copper, steel?) cut them as close to the old nut as you can, and then strip the two silver wires, about 1/2", put them in the same wire nut as the copper, twist a few times, and you're done. ... show more

    • Perfect replacement at a reasonable price
This connector cable was a perfect replacement for the broken cable I had on our vacuum cleaner. The part arrived on time and was pretty some to replace. Vacuum cleaner works like a charm again.

The color on this is beautiful, my one and only dislike is that it is a very thin ‘canvas’ that can and will fray if not handled properly from the moment you unwrap it.
