I bought this to get back into DXing (Long distance reception). I have a giant Antenna on a rotor and one of the best pre amplifiers you can buy. My weak link was the 2009 Digital converter box. The difference between ATSC1 and ATSC3 is big, this tuner box is one of only 3 that can decoded encrypted channels without requiring an internet connection. I did a full scan from 00 to 36 and found a ton of channels. This was in early evening when conditions are not good for dxing. This turner pulled in channels that I just not get before I got it. I can’t wait for the right conditions to really see how far I can find a station. The box has a nice menu and remote. You can connect it to wired or WiFi to get your guide and firmware updates but you don’t need to. You can connect a usb stick or an as card for recordings. This is a really great nextgen tuner for $119. This is one of those rare products that works better then expectations. Oh yea, it has a nice signal strength meter too! My PBS station in upper N.H. made a change to their signal where I needed to have a NextGen 3.0 converter box in able to recieve their signal. This unti works great except there is times where it will say that there is no signal and/or the picture freezes up for a second or so. The picture is alot more clearer and brighter to view ( which is nice ) and the unit also gives me the viewing schedule for PBS ( except the time schedule doesn't line up with the true timing of the programs). ... show more

    • An improvement over Gen1 but the Gen2 remote is wonky

I have the Gen1 and for ATSC 3.0, it would work but with lots of dropped signal. It made me think the broadcasters in my area, metro Boston, are not fully powering their signals for ATSC 3.0, as ATSC 1.0 came in great. The Gen1 remote worked as advertised, even though the interface is difficult. The Gen2 box seems more sensitive to ATSC 3.0 with the same antenna so that’s a plus, fewer drops. But the new remote is wonky: some keys do nothing, others control things that they’re not supposed to. If you want to try ATSC 3.0 before buying a compatible TV this is the best bet. So far. BTW the stuff NBC puts out in ATSC 3.0 with HDR is impressive. ... show more

I’m updating my earlier review in which I indicated that this box did not support some encrypted channels because I could not receive 5 WRAL and 50 WRAZ NextGen channels in Raleigh/Durham. I reached out to [email protected] and they were extremely responsive and very helpful! They even contacted the broadcaster and tested the stream to ensure it should work for me. I still do not receive those channels, but I believe the issue is that the broadcaster has a significantly weaker ATSC 3.0 signal than the other broadcasters in the Raleigh/Durham area. And so, I believe the problem is likely that I cannot even get a signal for their ATSC3.0 broadcast. Fortunately, this box works with both ATSC1.0 and ATSC3.0 signals, so I can view the ATSC1.0 stream of those channels. Seems to work well. I needed this to tune in Nextgen stations because my tv is an older model. I do not have it connected to internet, dont care about those features. However, the box turns itself on and off for some reason when its not being used. Seems like every few hours or so. It doesnt correlate to the use of any other remote. If i did have it connected to internet i’d be concerned. ... show more

Product would not receive DRM signals after 20 days. Tried resetting to the factory reset but no dice. Call ADTH tech support but no one home. Unit is on its way back to Amazon. This was the new unit not requiring an Internet connection to decode DRM. However I did have it on the Internet. Tried to up grade it their website was down and is still down. I would not recommend this product ... show more
