This is a fleck 5600Sxt whole house water softener system. The space Saver has the same water softening capacity compared to the traditional size. The space Saver mineral tank is shorter in height and the brine tank has a smaller square dimension. This will be the unit you will need if you require a smaller unit with the same softening capacity. Technical details: the newest version of fleck on-demand metered 5600 sxt valve, black 10” diameter PG 2.5T, and an 11 inch black square brine tank with safety float. Includes fleck bypass valve (60049) and 1 inch male threaded yoke connection (18706-01). 48, 000 grain/1.5 cubic feet of high capacity 8% resin . (1) hardness test and install bag of goodies. There is no support for this product if it breaks: nowhere to get parts or to honor the warranty. It used a ton of salt while it was working and now there are better options. Find another brand.

    • Great Unit - but seller instructions could mean 150% as much water and salt consumption as needed.
Came well packaged (though the resin tank is HEAVY, since the 602abcwaters seller prefills it, (a great bonus)). Install was a breeze, and well explained by the seller instructions. One issue, however, is the seller only covers basic setup features, (regen time, forced regen days, reserve capacity), and not advanced features. Basic features are accessed by holding the up/down buttons for 5 seconds. Advanced features are set by first setting the clock to 12.01 pm, then holding the up/down buttons for 5 seconds. The reason this matters is the unit I purchased was a 48,000 grain softener. It came pre-set with a 32,000 grain capacity, however, and the regen times were similarly set. This means it would have regenerated far more often than necessary, since it only would have assumed it has 66% the capacity it really has, it would have consumed 1.5x as much water and salt! This COMPLETELY undermines the advantage of purchasing a flow-meter enabled softener. I never would have known this had I not looked at other seller's installation instructions and seen how to get into the master settings. I used instructions from "cleanwaterstore" found by googling "fleck installation manual", although if you follow those, ignore the setting of flowmeter (Code FM) to t0.7...the ABCwaters unit comes with a paddlewheel flow meter, so it should remain set at p0.7. ... show more

    • What's in a word?
Here's the deal... This is NOT a Fleck made softener, just the meter. Granted, it does say "built" by ABC but still felt I was misled in the title line. The unit seems good but I do have a few complaints. Great "installation video", however once again... misleading. They are breezing right thru the entire installation leading you to believe everything is included to "git er done". Sadly there are no captions indicating there are no supply tubes to the softener or discharge tubing of any sort. Also, there was no installation kit with testing strips, lube and anything else stated with the kit. With that said, I was able to buy the adapters at Home Depot. Being a plumber for 30+ years I noticed the threads on the softener were not tapered as on standard pipe. What this means is you cannot thread a standard fitting onto the yoke without it leaking. They sell a stainless flex connector that is 1" female iron pipe x 3/4 shark bite. These fittings require no sweating and I've never seen one fail. You will also need to get some 1/2" tubing to a mop sink or laundry standpipe, make sure you buy a stainless steel clamp as well. As I said, this seems like a great product. Just installed it today and will try to post something a bit late to update. I'm all for a guy making an honest buck so good for these guys. Just be more clear, this is not a Fleck made by ABC. It's a ABC softener with a Fleck control, I think there's laws that regulate stuff like that! ... show more

Easy install, detailed instructions. I did have to buy connectors and a drain line, but that was clearly stated in the manual. In fact there is a perfectly good reason for that. Some people act as if that is a total surprise, but I guess that is only because they feel reading is beneath them. Even though the black&white pictures in the manual are small and sometimes too hard to make out, the Youtube video helps a lot. Russo Brothers wanted $2000 for a "professional" installation, I installed everything in about one hour. Thank you ABCwaters! ... show more

Just received the Fleck 5600 and the only thing I received was the tank. There was no meter, no hardness test & no install kit. Very disappointed!

    • The fleck 5600 is a great water softener
The fleck 5600 is a great water softener. Much more heavy duty that the units in the big box stores. It's a large package so it took a while to be delivered, but arrived as expected. I didn't get the 1 inch bypass ( I'd recommend that) but with some Shark Byte flexible connections it was a breeze to install. It's been In use for a month and with the demand based ( usage based) recharge it is great, and runs a lot less than the old one. ... show more

Works great so far ,I installed it my self the directions were easy to follow, I used to have a rental this will pay for it self in about 6 months . The only tricky part is programming which there are a bunch of videos with step by step instructions .
