The fleck 5600 is a great water softener. Much more heavy duty that the units in the big box stores. It's a large package so it took a while to be delivered, but arrived as expected. I didn't get the 1 inch bypass ( I'd recommend that) but with some Shark Byte flexible connections it was a breeze to install. It's been In use for a month and with the demand based ( usage based) recharge it is great, and runs a lot less than the old one. ... show more

Works great so far ,I installed it my self the directions were easy to follow, I used to have a rental this will pay for it self in about 6 months . The only tricky part is programming which there are a bunch of videos with step by step instructions .

Just received the Fleck 5600 and the only thing I received was the tank. There was no meter, no hardness test & no install kit. Very disappointed!

Nice water softener it has been in service now for 7-8 months without an issue. The hardest part I had was trying to figure out what to set the calibration parameters to so I wouldn't go through so much salt. After a lot of researching I figured it out. I bought the 48000 version and have uploaded some pictures of my configuration settings. Water is very soft and we don't go through tons of salt. I did have to contact he seller to find out what size back flow orifice was installed and they were knowledgeable got an answer right away. You will need to know this to figure out your "BF" (Back Flow) setting as this is the key parameter that if not set correctly will burn through salt. One other thing I was kind of shocked that the brine tank was so small and was kicking myself that I missed that in the description as I have always had a 50 gallon brine tank. But now that I am using it I really like the small tank as the valve when set correctly does not burn through a lot of salt meaning I only have to fill it every 3-4 months (about the same periodicity as my old softener with a 50 gallon brine tank) but this one takes so much less salt it's saving me $ over my last softener and it takes up so much less room. it's great. ... show more

    • What's in a word?
Here's the deal... This is NOT a Fleck made softener, just the meter. Granted, it does say "built" by ABC but still felt I was misled in the title line. The unit seems good but I do have a few complaints. Great "installation video", however once again... misleading. They are breezing right thru the entire installation leading you to believe everything is included to "git er done". Sadly there are no captions indicating there are no supply tubes to the softener or discharge tubing of any sort. Also, there was no installation kit with testing strips, lube and anything else stated with the kit. With that said, I was able to buy the adapters at Home Depot. Being a plumber for 30+ years I noticed the threads on the softener were not tapered as on standard pipe. What this means is you cannot thread a standard fitting onto the yoke without it leaking. They sell a stainless flex connector that is 1" female iron pipe x 3/4 shark bite. These fittings require no sweating and I've never seen one fail. You will also need to get some 1/2" tubing to a mop sink or laundry standpipe, make sure you buy a stainless steel clamp as well. As I said, this seems like a great product. Just installed it today and will try to post something a bit late to update. I'm all for a guy making an honest buck so good for these guys. Just be more clear, this is not a Fleck made by ABC. It's a ABC softener with a Fleck control, I think there's laws that regulate stuff like that! ... show more
