Works great. Saves a lot of money instead of a replacement softener.
This took 10 minutes to install easily and it saved me either a $200 service call (plus another when they presumably had to come back with the parts) or a new $650 unit! A note about any bad reviews on these gears: The gear is the same construction as the original. The outer portion that is thinner is only moving the tiny microswitch lever. There are many videos out there that clearly show how to fix this. This was a great buy. Also note, the description and picture clearly show it's for a 5 bolt head and it works for that. ... show more

As shown in the picture, it is suitable for valves with a cover secured by 5 screws. The description is accurate, so there's no need to worry about buying the wrong part. The metal gear is more durable—highly recommended!
