I used this pump to flush two different brands of tankless water heaters (Rinnai and Takagi) and it worked perfect for both. For both of them, I put 3 gallons of vinegar in a 5 gallon bucket, dropped this pump in there, used a couple washing machine supply line hoses to make the connections, and that was it. One final note, since several other reviewers mentioned having to do different things to "prime" the pump (e.g. turning the pump on and off; unscrewing the hoses; etc)...I found that all I needed to do - after submerging the pump and plugging it in - was simply tip it to the side for about 5-10 seconds. You'll see and hear it sucking in the liquid (vinegar in my case) and then it immediately started pumping. Super easy.

I purchased this pump one year ago for tankless heater flushing. I wanted everything on hand for my first heater flush, so I set everything up. I placed the pump in a five-gallon bucket, filled it with four gallons of food-grade vinegar, and plugged it into the wall, but the pump would not pump. I heard a humming sound, then nothing. Why would it not pump? Update: I finally got the pump to work by unscrewing the outlet hose, placing the pump back in food-grade vinegar, allowing it to fill itself (or prime itself) with the vinegar, reconnecting the outlet hose, and plugging it in. It worked beautifully. The pump needs to be fully primed. One reviewer stated that the pump manual says "not to use vinegar" when using this pump, but my Rinnai tankless manual says to use food-grade vinegar. I'll keep using the vinegar as long as the pump works; just remember to flush it with fresh water afterward. I ordered another brand pump for backup. Would I buy it again? No. I don't recall any information on Amazon about liquids not to use with this pump.

The pump was extremely quiet and powerful. I used it to get water from the backyard pond to my vegetable garden, and it worked very efficiently and finished the whole garden in 40 minutes.. Highly recommend this product.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: The product was listed as 1.5 horse, which normally requires 1200-1400 watts depending on motor efficiency. . However my amp probe showed its actual power to be closer to 1/3 Hp. Its ability to lift and carry water is overstated. It did not pull water 100 feet and a 30 foot rise any better than my 1/4 horse one. ☝️ No where on the website was the wattage noted. I doubt this was ever measured in its engineering. So if one is looking for an accurate load I would do more research. If however an inexpensive pump is needed to drain a swimming pool this will likely suffice.

I bought this for flushing my hot water heater and it worked OK. When I started it up, it was air-bound and had to loosen the connection on the water heater to let the air out of the hose. Once I did that it ran fine, but not something I would expect to need to do, and don't with my other pumps. After I did this, it started and stopped as expected as long as I kept it in the liquid.
