I will cut to the TL;DR chase: yes, this is inexpensive cast iron, so it does not arrive glass smooth and it is HEAVY. But with those two aspects out of the way this is an awesome set of pans and a great deal. They are seasoned, well made and useful, and at the time of this writing you get one more piece (the grilling pan) for $30 less than the set sold by the brand whose name rhymes with Dodge. And it's just as good. I have some of the other, so I can say that. So I write a ton of reviews. I'm going to do this one in Q & A form, because I've discovered it's an efficient way to convey a lot of information coherently. Q. Are they non stick? Do they really arrive seasoned? A. Yes and mostly yes. They arrive seasoned enough to be able to be used right out of the box with a little bit of extra oil, but you're definitely going to want to continue to use that extra oil and try to cook fattier foods if possible for the first 3 to 6 uses. Maybe re-season them initially a little quicker than the normal schedule, too. But you can use them straight out of the box. Q. What do you mean by "not glass smooth"? Are they gritty? Do they leave particles? A. They are not gritty and do not leave particles, but also do not feel smooth to the touch. The best way I can describe it is that they have a texture akin to fine-grit sandpaper, but, again, nothing flakes off. And it smooths with time. Q. Are they cast evenly and free of flaw? They won't crack? A. My set was. I don't know what your set will be, but my set was. Please see pictures. Any cast iron can crack, but with the weight and thickness of these I doubt it. If it does I'll update the review, no matter how much time has passed. (Today is 4/12/26.) The pans are also very deep, btw. Q. Do the handles get hot? A. They do. Quite. Get potholders or those silicon handle grip thingies. Q. You said they were heavy. Elaborate? A. The heaviness is a bit variable. Obviously the small frying pan is the lightest and the Dutch oven the heaviest, but the one that is surprisingly heavy is the griller pan. That thing weighs a ton. That said, it's worth it. It grills like nobody's business! Just don't give it to somebody with weak wrists, and when the whole set arrives and has to be lifted all at once leave a compliment for the delivery driver and don't strain your back bringing it in. Q. Do they heat evenly? A. Yes. The heat spreads rapidly and well. Please see above "handle" question. Q. Does it come in a pretty, giftable box? A. Nope. Brown, unlabeled cardboard all the way. Oh, well. Ok, that's enough of that. It's starting to sound like a commercial! Long story long: it's a good set that will survive your house burning down. Lastly, again, please do look at the pictures. What you see is what you will get. I personally am delighted. All the cooking at a quarter of the cost.

The day this set was delivered I saw a tiny girl get out and try to lift the box. I knew immediately what it was so I sent one of my sons out to carry it in. This stuff weighs a ton! I love using my original 75 year old cast iron skillet for cornbread, fried okra as well as fried chicken so when I came across this set I just couldn't pass it up. Everything in this set is solid and sturdy as well as heavy duty and could survive a bomb blast or the apocalypse. These pieces are going to be around for years and the more you use them the better they get. They have nice even heat distribution so everything in the pan cooks at the same time. The handles get wicked hot so I made sure to tell my sons just to be safe to never touch a pan or lid on the stove without a potholder because the thought of a bad burn is horrifying so safety first please. The fact that they come pre-seasoned is awsome however I seasoned once again then immediately started cooking. The value in this set is the simple fact you get so many pieces in it and the versatility of having a different one for so many tasks makes cooking a breeze. From a grilled cheese sandwich all the way to a giant stew in the Dutch oven. The fact that it can also go from the stovetop straight to the oven or grill is so convenient. This set came just in time for grilling season around here. One downside is no soaking so washing and drying immediately is best and I made it clear to everyone absolutely no soap ever! I usually heat the pieces back up on low for a few minutes to help dry them. Also, they aren't safe for some countertops so be careful if you have laminate, quartz or marble. It would make a great gift but you definitely won't be able to afford to mail this anywhere. This is a quality set and it makes a fantastic addition to my kitchen and being able to do so much with so many pieces makes it worth every cent. Speaking of that when I purchased it the price was $99.99 and I see now it's down to around 66 dollars so wow talk about a bargain! I probably use the huge Dutch oven the most but my favorite piece is the large heavy skillet, I nicknamed it The Widowmaker. 😉
