I have bought these laying box mats more than once and really enjoy them.Because they are washable generally speaking, I use them and spray them out with a hose with pressure on high and that works great for cleaning them one time.I ran them through my wash machine without much luck was not a good idea.They could tend to fall apart from that type of washing, but spraying out with a hose, works great.And my hens love them. I like them because, unlike using wood chips or other types of product for the laying nests, these do not promote pests or lice.In fact, reduce it to minimal to none.I have never had problems with any sort of pests using these mats

I purchased these nesting pads after buying consumable nesting pads and having to constantly throw them away relatively quickly. I was looking for something reusable and easy to clean. I have 8 laying hens (7 more that will start laying in a couple months) and 4 nesting boxes. 3 of the boxes are the roll out ones and one is a traditional flat kind. I really appreciate that these nesting pads are on the thinner side because I can shove them into the roll out boxes and the roll out function still works. I suppose I could cut them to size but the chickens and I don’t care. My chickens aren’t fancy and don’t need super fluffy nesting pads to lay eggs. They just get the job done and go about their day. In terms of shedding, the pads do shed initially out of the package. I just brushed all the edges and in the middle and I haven’t had any more shedding in the boxes after the chickens lay. There is a chemical smell out of the package also but I just left them outside for a day and that went away too. I haven’t had to clean them yet so I can’t speak to how well they hold up. Oh, my chickens took to them right away.

Very nice and clean, they didn’t fit perfectly in my coop but that’s a size issue on our end. As long as your nest boxes are this size I think it works great, our chickens laid pretty well on them, about a month in and they now prefer to lay on the ground over these but I don’t know if that has anything to do with these. Love it for easy cleaning and our eggs were super clean when we picked them up from these compared to the ground where they now lay.

Our girls constantly kept throwing their bedding out of the nesting boxes and we had some broken eggs. We tried nesting pads that were made of straw but the girls kicked those out as well and they fell apart. So we tried these. The material is such that the girls cannot get a grip and drag it out or scratch it out of the boxes. These mats cling to the box and fit snug. They are durable enough to withstand the girls scratching around but soft enough to prevent egg breakage. Our boxes are smaller than the width of the pad but that's no problem, these pads can easily bend so that one side goes up the wall of the box by about an inch and still doesn't allow our girls to pull them out. I put a very thin layer of bedding on them to make them a bit more comfy. I haven't had to clean them yet, but based on the material and the way they are made they should be very easy to clean.

Older hens prefer different material. Younger hens did use them. Can wash off with hose and hang to dry. Pads are kind of flat no matter what you do to fluff them.

I love these for nesting boxes, they don't have those pokey spikes like other plastic and rubber ones do that make it uncomfortable for the birds to lay on, they don't have fake grass that the chickens may eat, nor the long fibers that some are made up with, that some people's birds have eaten and become impacted. They fit perfectly in my nesting boxes, but can be cut down to size if need be. They are made of a soft, but (so far) durable rubber and easily washed, unless you've got dried on egg yolk, that stuff is near impossible to wash off on everything, not just this. But a soak in hot water, scrub, another soak and scrub, and it will come off. I've had them for a year now and have not seen any signs of wear or tear yet. I like the look of the fake green grass pads, but the thought of trying to clean broken eggs out of the "grass" (from a soft-shelled egg or other potential issue) was enough to have me trying these.

This is way better than straw. This is used as a base with a replaceable neat shaped piece on top. It helps to keep the eggs clean and makes it difficult to scratch through.
