  • For an incubator this size, it worked better than expected
Buyers should know that the controls are in Celsius only. You can get used to it or make yourself a cheat sheet with the Fahrenheit Temp equivalents to keep handy. I put in 6 of my bantam eggs, 1 was not fertile. Of the remaining 5, 2 chicks hatched. This is one of the better very small incubators I've tried and it did fine. As this was an autumn hatch, which can be spotty anyway, I was pleased with it. ... show more

  • Don't throw away the Styrofoam piece inside the box!
I have not yet used this egg incubator, since I ordered it at a weird time (fall season), and I don't plan to hatch any eggs until the spring. But I saw this and was very interested in trying it, so I figured that I would get it in advance and just have it ready to try as soon as the springtime comes. I have taken it out of the box to look at, and I read through the instruction manual just to familiarize myself with it. The instructions are not the best AT ALL...but I think that it should be understandable enough for anyone as long as you either have some prior experience or do some googling to familiarize yourself with the general process of hatching chicks at home. I have read that the ideal temperature for hatching chicks should be around 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit, which is about 37.5 degrees Celsius. (This unit is in Celsius). I saw in another review that this incubator may not be large enough to turn the eggs reliably if they are standard-sized, so that might be a concern, but I will have to find that out for myself when I am ready to test it with my own eggs. It does seem like you might be able to turn the eggs manually, if you have the time to do so, but I am not experienced enough to be able to offer much advice here. What comes with this incubator: -A foam "insulating box" that the instructions say to place the incubator inside of when the temperatures are low. (So don't throw this piece away thinking that it is just packaging). -USB cable -A mini spray bottle. The instructions say to spray the eggs 2-3 times a day, starting after the first 14 days of incubation. -A mini water bottle with a squirt nozzle. This is for carefully filling the incubator chamber with water, which is important to maintain the proper humidity levels. And that is it! I plan to have an extra thermometer and hygrometer around so that I can monitor the temperature and humidity levels at all times, separately from what the incubator itself might be measuring (just to double check the accuracy). I am giving it four stars for now, because if it works out, it is a cute and affordable incubator...but I will update my review in the spring once I have actually used this thing! ... show more

  • Not for Normal Sized Chickens
6 Egg Incubator ($34.99) This item got 5 stars because it works when you plug it in, you can read the readouts, and it appears to work...For small eggs. However, it will not work for me. This says in the listing that it is for SMALL poultry but then it also says duck and goose, which both have huge eggs. I ran a test with normal, Rhode Island Red eggs. I put 6 in, drew smiley faces on the fronts, and used the turning feature. That runs for 12 seconds. After a few times letting it turn, one of the eggs was completely turned around, one of them was back to face up, and the rest were in varying stages of turned. None were the same. The device is light...In order to push the buttons you have to hold it down, so it takes 2 hands. I couldn't hold my phone to video and push them at the same time. It's only in Celsius. No Fahrenheit setting that I could find. This is not for newbies. Never having incubated eggs before, this was going to be an experiment. Since normal sized eggs are clearly too heavy for it, it won't work for us. There were directions on use, but no information on how to actually incubate the eggs. You need to know what you're doing to use this. It has a USB charging cord. It also came with a little spray bottle and a little drip bottle. I have no idea what they're for. ... show more

  • Nice size
Works well. Nice small size for if you already have one full incubator and just need a few more spaces for eggs. Cleans well..

  • The temperature reading never reach to 30 degree C
This one is small and the temperature reading never reach 30 degree C for me. I tried to hatch chicken eggs and after 2-3 weeks, zero hatching so far, I will be checking the eggs regularly now. What I noticed is the temperature showing never reach 30 degree C, and I thought for eggs to hatch it need to be warmer or hotter than 30 C, like maybe 35-38 C. This unit is small, and it use USB power, as far as I know USB power only provides 5volts and max amp probably 3A but typically 1A or less, so I'm not sure how much heat can it really generate. It was easy to set up, just add water with the provided bottle nozzle, then add the eggs, put the cover dome back secure it, then plug it in, that's it, I did that and it's been 2-3 weeks and counting no hatching, possible my eggs are bad so I will be checking it though. ... show more
