They are better than expected . Now all I need is something I lack a lot of and that is a good imagination. There are too many ways to place the wood. I am happy this will give me a lot to do until I finalize where they sit. I boiled them 4 times I don't believe I can completely remove all the tannins like a natural lake can over years and years but what will leach out will be great for my shrimp. I will be ordering some bigger ones later on. The price is pretty good when you compare to my local shops that charge way too much. ... show more

These are fairly nice pieces of driftwood. The only reason I did not rate them a 5 star is due to one being significantly smaller, and is only stick like, does not branch off like the other one or like the pictures represent. I got a good mix of sizes and shapes in the pieces I received. There was one piece that is straight and pretty boring, but that’s just one out of five; the remaining four are twisty and interesting. I used three in my 5 gallon portrait tank, two of which I stacked to make a shallow little cave. The scud and endlers enjoy it, and I have plenty of space to attach some plants. Preparation: I boiled the wood off and on for 5 hours, changing the water periodically. I followed that up by soaking them in a 5 gallon bucket for two more days. Surprisingly, most of the tannins leached out during that process. My tank water hasn’t changed color in all the time I’ve had the wood in there. My other tank with drift wood stays a dark tea color, even after months of having the wood. ... show more

I received 1 piece 4", 2 pieces 5.5", 1 piece 6" and 1 piece 8" (very thin). Description says pieces are generally 6". The quality was otherwise average for driftwood.

Im very happy with what i recieved. 5 different pieces. A couple were a little bouyant, but i wanted to boil them anyway to reduce the tanins and dark color it could possibly add to the water, and that solved that as well. These, once in the water, and if stacked right, can be made to look like a bigger piece of wood. Its hard to tell that theyre not all one piece. ... show more

The pieces themselves were fine I guess. About what I expected as far as the size and shape. They needed a lot of rinsing and brushing prior to dropping in a pot to boil. I could live with that though. I have bought driftwood for my other tanks from legitimate aquarium stores and usually a quick rinse was all that was necessary. The really disappointing part was the color. They were much darker than what is in the picture. Not even close. This dark wood is definitely not going to work with my aquascape. We used these to decorate our fish tank! We had to boil them quite a bit to get all of the color out but they are great!!! Definitely love them!
