Directions: It's better boil with soda. Recently I have seen a lot of customer feedback about red water problems. I went to do a tannin removal experiment, add soda and boil, boil for 15 minutes. Soak in hot water until the water is cool. Add new water and continue to boil, cycle 3-5 times. My experiment was repeated four times. Then continue to soak in water, change the water once a day, and remove tannins need for 4 days.

This driftwood was really great! my fish absolutely loved it! Each piece was a perfect size, around 10–12 inches, and it made the tank look so natural. I order in two sizes and loved the pieces I got in each package. They are beautiful and very unique. You do have to have some creativity when it comes to arranging them. They are an amazing price in my opinion. The sizing is pretty accurate although you may get a talk piece or a relatively skinny piece with no branches jutting out. I soaked them to remove some of the tannins but I probably could have soaked longer, but I got impatient. They released some tannins, but it’s healthy for the type of fish I own. They have been in My Tank quite a while and have no issues and have not broken down. ... show more

Great prices and two fun pieces I received. I did the bleach method for my beared dragon tank to cure them. I thought they were already cured . No they are not. I don’t have anything big enough to boil these and didn’t want to put them in my oven wear I make food. So I bleached them for 24 hrs and let it dry out in the sun and soaked in soap water for few days and then cured back in sun. Yes my wood is a beautiful white color but they look amazing. I’m doing a jurassic. Park themed tank so the white drift wood will really make a fun cool effect. ... show more

So this is my first time ever have an aquarium, let alone driftwood. I bought these two pieces, and they are beautiful, even though they are a bit smaller than I anticipated. I saw everyone saying in the reviews and the product listing to boil the heck out of this wood, and I did just that. I boiled water and dumped it in a small cooler I had since I didn’t have a pot or pan big enough to use to boil water with the wood. I did this roughly once every day or two for a little over three weeks and the water I was dumping out after letting it sit was STILL brown. I finally just said to heck with it and put them in my tank. Water has not turned color at all since adding, but I also have a Seachem Purigen packet in my filter so, that might be helping . They sank just fine thankfully, so no issues with floating up or having to anchor them with something. I’m like 90% sure this wood was sprayed with some sort of coloring or treatment because it just felt really chalky upon arrival. But regardless, it is nice wood. Just don’t buy if you plan on using it quickly because this requires so much time and patience. ... show more

they’re pretty accurate in size, i didn’t have high hopes i didn’t think i’d get such pretty pieces but the shapes of both pieces look so good! the pictures attached show one of the pieces in my 14 gallon cube :)

I was sure that they would be overstating the sizes so I ordered a bit larger than I wanted (7"-11"). Nope, bang on. Pieces were varied but very good looking wood. Tannins are extremely bad. Very dark reddish brown water after soaking in hot water. But that is what you get with very new dense wood. These pieces are not thin and dried out. Happy enough, that I ordered another batch in the 5"-9" size. Just plan on soaking and boiling A LOT before using. Edit: 18 days later. I've boiled these pieces and have had them in a bucket since the day I received them. I change the water multiple times a day with the hottest tap water possible. The water is a deep brownish red. No sign of letting up. Do not buy unless you want a blackwater tank. Edit: Over a month later. These pieces are leeching tanins like nobody's business. I would not recommend unless you REALLY want a brownish red tank. 2nd picture above is a goldfish tank where I did a 75% water change TWO DAYS AGO! Compare to a no-wood tank next to it. ... show more

Excellent product. Sent 2 pieces that compliment each other and both good quality. I wanted wood in my rank without the brown water look... After some preparation I have ZERO tannins from this supplier. Here is what I did, and it worked for this product: I presoaked the wood in a 5gal bucket for literally 5 days, changing the water daily. This leaked some tannins out but also helped waterlog it some. Then I got a big old pot and boiled the wood for 2hrs straight, adding water if it evaporated some. I did this once a day for 5 days, returning it to a bucket of fresh water once done. May need to hold it down if it wants to still float. I know it's overall 10 days of waiting but for me the patience paid off. Zero tannins and it didn't float anymore. Very happy with it. My corys (all my fish actually) and shrimp love it!!! ... show more

Pretty decent pieces, though the size and shape of one I'm not a fan of, but still pretty decent size pieces for the price, one of these in the store would easily be thirty bucks. Should suit my crested gecko well. Thickness is better one one than the other. Trying to balance them could be a challenge since I need mine vertical instead of horizontal but definitely worth the money if you're like me and worried about pieces found outside with chemical exposure. ... show more
