We have purchased microscopes on the higher and lower end of the scale and for the price, this was surprised us with the quality. My son was able to use this while we reassembled parts to his other microscope, and was able to parcipate in his microscope labs easily for his online science class. This set comes with some starter slides to explore and also to help your child navigate and adjust the settings. It also came with several blank slides, and specimen collection tools and containers! The microscope body is a nice durable metal, and my favorite part was that it came with a carrying case so slides and scope do not get separated from each other (like the other ones we had). At up to 1200x magnification, you will easily be able to carry out any beginner, most intermediate and even some advance specimen analysis. Now what you get to do with your little scientist's specimens, is a conversation you will have to figure our on your own. We have implemented a personal policy regarding any potential long term decaying or health risk hazardous specimens and their length of stay, and used that as an opportunity to discuss responsible scientific experiment waste disposal methods. This is a complete little microscope kit for kids, with a tough and durable case. It has slides to create your discoveries and it also has pre-made slides to view. Overall it is fun and a great intro to the micro world. This can be a great gift for kids who are curious about science.

This microscope is great! My 7-year-old son has been using it for 10 months and it's still going strong, even though he's not the most gentle user. He's forgotten it outside, left it on the floor, and left the light on for days, but it's never broken. It's also really easy to use, even for a young child. The focus is controlled by moving the stage up and down, and it's easy to get things in focus. My son has spent hours looking at prepared slides and other things he finds, and he loves it. I highly recommend this microscope for any young scientist!

This is the coolest little microscope! My kids absolutely love playing with it. It comes with several neat sample slides and blank slides so they can make their own! It also comes with a carrying case, that has slots for everything so when they put it away, it snaps away in the case instead of leaving mess all around the house. It is an actual METAL microscope, and not plastic or flimsy. Tons of instructions and tools that my kids can't wait to try them all out. I would say the age range is for a middle school to junior high student. My 10 and 13 year old LOVE IT!

This is a pretty cool set that was actually pretty easy to use right out of the box! My kids are little so I had to set it up for them and then have them look through but the materials are strong and pretty heavy so will hopefully not be easily broken by kids.

Bought for a granddaughter's birthday. By the time she tried it out with her mother, the return window was closed or I would be returning it. Very disappointed in the quality, flimsy to use, view is fuzzy. I do not recommend it.
