First off this tank is packaged from the manufacturer like Fort Knox. I mean if this thing gets broken it would not be from lack of packaging. I'll rate the items individually because all things are not created equally. The tank itself is a solid 10. Nice clear glass with no residual glue or silicone. Very impressed with the clarity and overall construction of the tank. The lid I am going to rate at a 7. It's thick plexi glass which of course is not glass at all, its plastic. It's sturdy and attractive for now but suspect that will change after several cleanings. The cutouts are precise and there is little spacing around the perimeter. I expect water evaporation to be minimal. It comes with 4 corner clips that hold the lid firmly in place. If the lid was exactly the same except made in glass I would rate it a 10. The filter I am going to rate at a 6. It's quiet and works as advertised but I suspect it's lifespan will be short considering how cheaply it is made. I'll give an opinion of an "upgrade" one is factual, the other is speculation. The filter cartridges that come with the filter are absolutely junk. Very little meshing and even less carbon. What little carbon was inside the mesh appeared to have spilled out into the packaging. In my humble opinion the replacement filters for the Marina S10, S15, or S20 fit this filter perfectly and are MUCH higher quality. I am currently running one Marina Bio-Carb filter and one Marina Bio-Clear filter. They fit perfectly and are a serious upgrade from the included filters. If this filter should fail I am going to purchase the Marina S10 as it appears to be an almost exact copy with a couple features that would appear to be an upgrade (speculation). I am going to give the light a rating of 7. At first glance I thought oh boy this is going to be a real winner of a light. I was pleasantly surprised by the light output. The light attaches securely and adjusts simply by moving a bendable arm. There are 3 light modes by simply pressing the on off button in succession. I prefer the all-white mode but that is my preference. I could not find a way to increase or decrease the light intensity in any of the modes but for my use that is not a concern. The light output is adequate. I found the spectrum of light to be quite pleasing as well. I do not own any "high end" aquariums but own and have owned quite a few of the start-up kits from the big box pet stores. At this price point I will continue to buy this kit as it really puts the others to shame. This review is for the 10 gallon aquarium as the others seem to have small variances. I would purchase any of the models based solely on the quality of the aquarium itself. ... show more

This is honestly one of the best all-in-one tanks I’ve used. The design is super clean and minimal, which makes it look really nice in any space. The glass is clear and sturdy, and overall the build quality feels solid. I was especially impressed with how quiet the filter is, it’s almost silent, which is a huge plus. The included light is also great and really brings out the colors of the fish and plants. Everything works smoothly right out of the box, and it’s very beginner-friendly while still looking good enough for more experienced setups. For the price, this is an amazing value. What a cool little tank! I've had aquariums for the better part of 30 years and have seen a lot of trends come and go. I decided to jump on the freshwater "planted tank" trend and start a small 3 gallon tank. I have a lot of equipment for tanks, but nothing that would be small and simple enough for a 3 gallon build. This comes with (almost) EVERYTHING you could ever need for a new tank build! If you're looking for a solution where you don't have to buy anything else (like some of the reviewers are complaining about) you really need a different hobby, not a different tank. Every fish will have different needs, and if you're expecting to place a single order to get everything you could ever need for a fish you're not going to have this thing long term. Overall if you're looking to get the tank going (and you bought the 3 gallon kit, i bought mine as of 7/25) the only additional items you'll need is a substrate (gravel is most common), some ornaments for the fish to hide (fake plants decorations, etc.) and a heater. A decent heater for this size tank is ~$10-$15, so it's not much of an expense. You may consider ordering additional replacement filters as well as this only comes with one set. I plan to make my own filter solutions for this particular filter, but you do you! I will admit the instructions for the filter are not the best, but they should be self-explanatory enough to get you there. Some items like the siphon take a little bit of a learning curve to use properly, but the fact that they're included in this is a huge bonus! The light is very cool and easy to use with 3 color settings ("blues", warm white, and both blue/warm) and should be enough light for most standard "easy" live aquarium plants. It's USB powered so be ready to have to have a solution to plug it into (I just used a little USB power brick I had laying around). Build quality of the tank is awesome! It could just be my tank, but I didn't have any of the problems another reviewer was talking about with excess silicone and a leak. Ours is very clean and sleek without any issues. Finally, just as a general PSA (you can stop reading if you're just looking for a product review) PLEASE be careful and conscious what you put in this tank as 3 gallons is very small (which may be surprising for those of us who grew up with the little fish bowls on our desks as kids). I placed a single betta in the tank which many could argue the tank is even a little small for. Do your research about your pet before you buy them. If you're doing it for your kid and they "need" a fish, there no better lesson for them to learn about than preparing for a situation ahead of time, and doing the right thing to care for the animal. Buy this kit, set it up, let it "cycle" (you can Google "how to cycle" a fish tank) and put a fish in after it's been established for a few weeks if you can. You can get away with doing it sooner, but it's best for the fish to let the tank properly cycle before adding it. This prep alone is a good lesson in discipline, and will give you a really healthy and beautiful tank in the end. Have fun! ... show more

This tank is the perfect size for 2-3 small goldfish! It’s sturdy, the filter works wonderfully, it’s a reasonable price, and there’s lots of room to put pebbles or fake plants. However, this tank is made out glass, so it’s not very sturdy and safe to put in an exposed spot.

Tank looks amazing! Was not expecting so much clarity with the full glass, rimless look. Super excited to filter this before introducing my betta to his new home. Size is perfect and the durability looks like it’ll hold. Filter runs quite smoothly and makes minimal sounds. No leakage at the moment, however I am a bit concerned about the bottom corners of the tank. Because it’s rimless at the bottom, the corners are susceptible to cracking a bit so keep that in mind if you’re moving it around. Otherwise, this is a great tank overall. I did a lot of research before buying this tank because I wanted something that looked sleek and modern, but was also good quality without being super expensive. This one really hit that balance. It’s reasonably priced for how nice it looks, and I love that it comes with both a filter and a light. It also feels very sturdy and durable, not flimsy at all. The lid is also a great design, easy to remove when needed but still sits securely and looks clean. The filter has been perfect for my betta fish. He doesn’t get stuck or pushed around, and the flow is gentle while still keeping the tank very clean. It actually arrived much earlier than I expected, and the packaging was excellent. I was a little worried it might show up damaged, but it was protected really well and came in perfect condition. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a simple, clean-looking tank that’s good quality and reasonably priced compared to similar options on Amazon. ... show more
