  • Well Made But Hardly Does Anything
The good is that this drag seems pretty sturdy. Materials used are good and assembly is pretty quick and easy, helped by the fact that they have included a good tool to do the assembly with and there's minimal assembly needed. Just screw in 4 bolts to put the 2 halves of the unit together. There are already bolts welded to the drag frame so putting it together is simply a matter of fitting the 2 halves together and then installing the 4 bolts. Setting this up is not a problem, it's easy. The not so good is that the bolts are not high tensile strength items...I can see that at some point I might be welding these halves together which would have been the better way to construct this...but the packaging and shipping would have been much bigger, more difficult to handle and expensive. The tow chains are okay and like the bolts, fine for most usage, but I would expect to have to replace them with something more robust down the line. The biggest negative for me is this is not only clumsy to use, but they didn't design it to really cut into the ground, so even with 5 cinder blocks on it, it just moves over the surface without moving any material. I have a long gravel/stone drive. A drag harrow would be a perfect, easy way to keep the drive level and groomed except this doesn't do a thing to my packed down drive at all. I couldn't tell until the unit was delivered that the "teeth" of the drag are folded over steel. That seems like it would be fairly strong but the rounded teeth have no bite. On hard pack, they pretty much grind right over, so you don't cut into the drive, loosen material or move it around... mostly I just made noise and scraped up the paint of the drag itself. I also tried it on a part of a field where the ground was uneven with the same results. Bottom line is this is a well made drag that would probably work well on loosened or softer soils, but seems to be pretty much useless on anything that's hard packed. It is not a real heavy duty piece of equipment even though, again, it does seem to be well made. It didn't work for me on any packed surface, not dirt nor gravel. I did have more success with smoothing out wood chips I put down on the trails in my woods and will likely reserve it for that going forward. As an additional note, you definitely need to put as many cement blocks on this as you can to have any effect. The need for that adds to the complexity of using this, not to mention the expense. It also makes using this more cumbersome. You can't move it with the cinder blocks on it, so I store it in my shed without the blocks on it. Then put the blocks on to use it (you're dragging this from wherever you start). So, if you're only looking to work in one specific area, you can load the cinder blocks into the back of your UTV and drag the harrow to where you need it. Then put the blocks on it (again, I used 5 of these), strap them in place and start working. Then reverse the process before pulling it back to where you want to store it. I really wanted this to work and wanted to like it. While I found some things about it positive, the fact that it is fussy to work with and most importantly that it hardly works at all on packed surfaces sort of eliminates any reason to buy it. ... show more

  • Not the one-step solution I hoped for
I grabbed this 4FT Drag Harrow Driveway Grader to help maintain my long gravel driveway and level out some uneven patches in the back field. While assembly was fairly quick and it is light enough to move by hand, the performance was a major letdown. The biggest issue is that it did not bite into anything compacted. It really only worked on the loose areas of my drive, which I could have handled with a manual rake. I actually had to use my tractor to break up the hard spots first just for this to make any difference, which felt like more of a hassle than it was worth. If I have to do all the heavy work with another machine, this grader becomes pretty redundant. The steel feels a bit thin for land leveling, and I’m genuinely worried about the durability over long-term use. For the price, it just isn't effective enough on its own. It might be okay for spreading very loose topsoil, but for a driveway with any kind of hard-pack, it is definitely not worth the hassle. Not durable enough not heavy enough and wont bite into anything hard ... show more

  • A 4-Foot Wet Noodle with a Chain
I bought this "Heavy Duty" Drag Harrow expecting to finally tame my bumpy driveway. Instead, I bought a $200 lessons in frustration. If you’re looking for something that actually moves dirt, keep looking, because this thing has the structural integrity of an overcooked lasagna. The "Flex" Factor: The product description talks about "sturdy steel," but the moment this thing hits a minor gravel pile, it bows and flexes like a yoga instructor. It doesn't cut into the ground; it just molds itself to the shape of the bumps you're trying to remove. It’s less of a grader and more of a "contour-following blanket" that ensures every pothole remains exactly as deep as it was when you started. The Weight Problem: Realizing it was too light to do anything but tickle the weeds, I tried to add some cinder blocks to give it some "bite." Good luck with that. Design Flaw: The frame is so flimsy that trying to secure weights to it is like trying to strap a backpack onto a jellyfish. The Struggle: Because of the way it's constructed, there’s no flat, stable surface to bungee or bolt weights down. Every time I turned the ATV, the weights would slide, tilt, or try to escape, causing the harrow to flip over like a dying fish. The "Driveway Grader" Experience: After two hours of "leveling," my driveway looks like I just dragged a heavy chain-link fence over it. The high spots are still high, the low spots are still low, and the harrow is now slightly warped from the sheer audacity of me asking it to do its job. Verdict: This might work for spreading a thin layer of sand in a localized Zen garden, but for actual driveway or land maintenance, it’s useless. It flexes under pressure, refuses to hold weights, and ultimately leaves you with the same mess you started with—just with more tire tracks. ... show more
