  • A Big Helper for Big Yards
I pushed open the backyard gate and my son immediately asked, “Are we doing yard work again today?” He’s been watching me fight with our old dethatcher for weeks, so I don’t blame him. This time, though, I hooked up this new one, and the whole vibe changed. I opened the box right on the driveway while my son chased a ball around. The parts looked clean, nothing bent or rattling. Putting it together took a bit of patience, but nothing dramatic—just the usual bolts and a couple of moments where I had to stop and wipe dirt off my hands. Once I attached it to the mower, it clicked in place without that awkward “is this even aligned?” feeling. The first pull across the yard was honestly satisfying. It moved smoothly, didn’t bounce around, and the tines grabbed way more thatch than I expected. My son kept running behind me pointing at the lines it left, saying it looked like “the lawn got combed.” He’s not wrong—the difference was obvious after just one pass. What I appreciate most is how steady it feels. Even when I hit uneven patches, it didn’t jerk or drag weirdly. The adjustable hitch actually makes sense, and lifting the tines when turning is easier than I thought it would be. By the time we finished, the yard looked cleaner, and I wasn’t nearly as tired as usual. My son even said, “This one works better than the old noisy thing,” which made me laugh because he absolutely remembers the chaos. For a big yard, it’s exactly the kind of tool that makes the job feel manageable. ... show more

  • Its for very light duty and small mowers only.
Model: AGLD0003
The first thing was the box used for shipping was damaged as usual anymore, the bolt package was gone, the parts were listed in the instructions, so I went and bought them for $10 rather than send it back or wait weeks for parts, also you will need twice the amout of washers they show, it does work actually, its on the flimsy side, so dont be rough with it, its really easy to assemble once you have all the parts, had to put two 4 inch solid cap blocks on it for any kind of results, I had to modify the handel and hitch slots as they dont go down low enough for a Bad Boy mower hitch that is higher, it was a little less of a duty than I would expect for the price, but because I have welding equipment it was easy to make much more durable and sturdy, the lift handel bent first use because of the solid cap blocks for weight they suggest to use, This will work for small lots with light duty and small rider mowers. ... show more

  • The "One-Pass" wonder for my messy lawn
I was honestly dreading the spring cleanup this year after the dogs spent all winter tearing up the back lot. My old hand rake was basically a joke for a yard this size, so I hitched this 48-inch beast to my UTV. It’s roughly the width of my hallway, so it covers ground fast—I managed to finish the main lawn before my daughter even finished her morning cartoons. By the way, the delivery driver left this massive box right against the garage door, and I nearly backed into it because I was distracted trying to find my sunglasses in the glovebox! The carbon steel frame is no joke; I piled about four or five bags of leftover mulch on the tray to weigh it down, and those tines really dug into the thatch. It didn't bend or complain once. I especially love the height adjustment handle—it’s easy to reach from the seat, so I didn't have to keep hopping off every time I hit a bumpy patch near the garden beds. One tiny tip though: definitely hose the mud off the tines right away. I got sidetracked by a neighbor asking about my "new toy" and let the dirt dry on there, which made cleaning it a total pain later. It’s a bit of an investment, but the time I saved not having to do ten passes is worth every penny. It feels like professional-grade gear without the professional-grade headache. ... show more

  • More hassle than help for my yard
I had high hopes for this dethatcher, but it didn’t work out the way I expected. Putting it together took longer than it should have, and some of the parts didn’t line up as smoothly as I would’ve liked. The instructions weren’t very clear either, so I had to figure a few things out on my own. When I finally got it hooked up to my riding mower, the performance was pretty underwhelming. The tines didn’t seem to dig in consistently, even after adjusting the height a few times. In some areas it barely picked anything up, and in others it would just skip over the surface. I also noticed that it struggled on slightly uneven ground, which is most of my yard. It felt like I had to keep going over the same spots without much improvement. On top of that, a couple of the tines started to bend sooner than I expected. Overall, it ended up being more effort than it was worth, and it didn’t give me the results I was hoping for. ... show more

  • Works for Small Jobs but Needs Extra Weight to Perform
This dethatcher does the job, but it definitely benefits from added weight to get the most out of it. Without that, the springs do not dig in as much as they could. For smaller yards, it performs well enough and gets the job done. For tougher dethatching work, it could use stronger springs. Value for the money is decent if you understand its limitations. ... show more
