I have an around 5000 gallons pool, and this 16000BTU pool heat pump works great. Just be patient that the initial warm up target temp took about a day, but it cost you nothing. After that it held the temperature very steadily with only minor fluctuations, so I didn’t have to keep adjusting it. The unit is extremely quiet — I can sit by the pool without being bothered — and the control panel is intuitive with useful scheduling and temperature settings. Since installing it, swimming has become much more comfortable and enjoyable, especially for evening swims and on cooler days. Overall, a powerful, low‑noise solution if you’re looking for consistent pool warmth rather than instant heat. Great customer services as well.

This was actually very easy to install. Once we had it hooked up, it was simple to connect it to the Smartlife App. The heat pump is very quiet and works efficiently. It takes longer to heat than a conventional electric pool heater, but a fraction of the cost. My old pool heater drew 88 amps at 220 volts. This unit is a fraction of that. I had some technical questions and the follow up by Customer Service was excellent. They called me back a number of times, to make sure everything was working properly.

The Varminpool 16,400 BTU Pool Heat Pump is by far the best unit I’ve ever owned. Before this, I tried two other brands, and both were so loud you couldn’t even talk in the pool — it was unbearable. This unit, on the other hand, is whisper quiet. You hardly even know it’s running, and that alone makes it worth it. Performance-wise, it’s outstanding. I started with 60°F water, and after following the customer support team’s pro tip to lower the flow rate during the initial heat-up, my pool reached the mid-80s within just seven days. For the first time in years, I had comfortably warm water all summer. And when I pushed it further, I was able to bring the pool all the way up to 94°F — like having a personal sauna. What really sets Varminpool apart is their incredible customer support. They answered my setup questions right away, gave me tips for better efficiency, and when I had a minor sensor issue, they shipped me a replacement within a week and told me to keep the old one for parts. They even followed up to make sure everything was working. That kind of service is almost unheard of today. Another huge plus is the Wi-Fi app control. No matter where you are — even at work — you can adjust the temperature right from your phone. I love being able to make sure the pool is warm before I get home. I was so impressed with this unit that I actually decided to buy a second 16,400 BTU unit instead of upgrading to a single 30,000 BTU model. By daisy-chaining the two, I now get roughly 32,800 BTUs combined, which is actually more heating power than the 30,000 BTU option. In practice, I found this setup to be more efficient at both heating the pool quickly and maintaining higher temperatures. On top of that, I like the redundancy — if one unit ever fails, I still have the other running as a backup. Setup Tip: Through trial and error, I found that the right pool filter setup makes a huge difference. I recommend using a pump with at least 0.75 to 1 horsepower and pairing it with a sand filter that’s 13–16 inches in size. Be sure to include a flow-rate valve so you can adjust how long the water spends around the coils for maximum efficiency. And most importantly — don’t use the cheap filter that comes with the pool. Invest in a quality sand filter, and you’ll get the very best results out of the Varminpool system. Overall, I would absolutely recommend the Varminpool 16,400 BTU Pool Heat Pump. Whether you choose one or two units, you’ll get whisper quiet operation, excellent performance, world-class customer support, and the convenience of app-based control.

I ordered this pool heater in the fall last year and was able to get a decent months worth before closing the pool down for the season(Midwest winters). The heater was fairly easy to install, just 1 trip to the hardware store and I had it up and running in no time. The instructions aren’t the greatest when it comes to winterizing but I was able to find a handful of videos on YouTube, including formal ones from Varminpool themselves. I did everything I was supposed to and even disconnected everything and stored the heater in my garage which doesn't reach freezing temperatures. Now that Spring is here, I was eager to get everything set up and running. I hooked everything up and when I went to start it, water was pouring out of the bottom of the heating unit! I called customer service and the lady was very friendly. I explained my concern and frustration and she had me provide a picture and a video of the leaking. Not even 24hrs later she calls me back and says they are sending me a complete new replacement! I just got everything hooked up and running again a few days ago with the new unit and it’s working like a charm. I can’t express enough how awesome the customer service was and just how easy the process was with zero headaches. Sometimes things break or malfunction and they stepped up to the plate and made things right. I can’t recommend Varminpool enough. My water temp started at 57 degrees 2 days ago and the current temp is 84 degrees. Fantastic!

I initially received a heat pump that had issues, but Varminpool support was helpful in providing a replacement unit. The heat pump works well in heating my 8000 gallon above ground pool. I run it only for 8 hours during the day and it is able to maintain the desired temperature in Socal weather. It is important to use a solar cover to get better results. it's a great value for the price and support that you get with this heat pump.
