We are pressing the limits of the intended use, but it is helpful and we'll keep it. We used it to hold our front door slightly open for a cat that has recently adopted us. It's quite windy here, and when the front door is ajar and you open a window or door across the room, the front door can slam shut violently. We wanted to encourage the cat to come in, but didn't want to leave the door fully open, nor did we want it to slam on him. With the device in place and the pin at the hole closest to the end, several times I've found that the door knob has slide along the slot, rendering the door nearly closed (so cat can't get in). This probably wouldn't be a problem on an interior door that isn't subject to the wind, but the slit that you fit around the door knob allows this to happen. Second, my husband, not yet used to the contraption, yanked hard on it when opening the door, which resulted in the rivet into which the pin was currently inserted completely pulling out of the plastic. So, we had to switch to a different rivet. Finally, after a few days in place, the device will have such a sharp bend in it that the pin will no longer stay in the strike-plate. The workaround is to insert the pin from the other side and flip the whole thing over. Finally, this is minor, the blue plastic turned white at the inflection point from constantly being bent. Meanwhile, we were able to get a cat door for free from a neighbor who didn't need it, so we aren't using the device so much as before. Still, we have it in place in case we need it. ... show more

I wanted a non damaging option to limit the dog from being able to go litter box scuba diving and this contraption is perfect. Five second installation with no drilling/attaching required. You just loop it on the knob and put the prong in the open part of the metal thing on the door frame that probably has a name I do not know. The plastic is flexible enough to fit my door and sturdy enough that even my bulky rottweiler can’t get through with force. The cat can finally poop in peace and we all can wince less when the dog licks us now that his mouth is slightly less horrifyingly gross. ... show more

These work surprisingly well. At install, our Plott Hound gave a look of disapproval, as he knew he would no longer be able to sneak in to get secret treats. The cats do not seem to mind the space between the door and frame at all, and we are already saving money on cat food day one! We also installed the second one on the door to where their litter box is, no sign of our Pocket Beagle or Plott Hound breaching this security device so far! ... show more

This is our second one. The first one a kid broke it being an a#5. It’s hard plastic with a little give. It’s perfect for what we need it for which is to keep the dog out of the bathroom where the litter box is yet keeps the door open just wide enough the kittens can get through. Does it’s job but maybe something a little more pliable would keep crotch goblins from breaking things just because they can…. Or maybe not but it’s a thought. ... show more

I bought this to keep my 70lb dog out of my room when I'm gone because the door pushes open when it's closed. I tried other products and he would bust right through them. This latch holder solved my problem! It's super easy to use and well worth the price.

Work as intended - we have lever handles though, so they can't dangle when we have the door open, they fall right to the ground. Wish they maybe had some rubber on the inside to make it a little harder to slip. Also if my toddler pushes the door closed they fall down/off, beware. Regardless, still extremely useful in our home for rooms with litterboxes! ... show more
