  • Great fun at an accessible price
Size: 23 inch
Ukulele is one of many instruments I want to play fluently. I’ve only ever borrowed them from friends, however, and never had my own to sit down and properly learn with. This complete uke kit is proving to be a great starting point for my journey, and will likely bring you the same joy and sense of accomplishment. The instrument is made of beautiful mahogany, with wood grain that looks amazing in direct light. It resonates well and feels comfortable in hand. The frets are smooth, fretboard properly lined up and strings properly knotted. Excellent construction all-around for the price! The included materials are a nice gesture, but mileage will vary on how much use you get out of any of it. I can’t figure out the strap for the life of me, picks seem frivolous as uke is typically played with the fibers and the included primer guide can be confusing due to shoddy wording (I’ve had better luck using online resources combined with basic theory knowledge and guitar experience). Also be warned the included tuner, while nice, doesn’t come with a battery. The best inclusions here are easily the extra set of strings and the gig bag, which provides good base protection for travel. I’ve already learned some songs by ear, but this ukulele would undoubtedly be just as fun for a complete beginner. Solidly constructed and beautiful, I’m further impressed by the fact that this costs less than $60 for literally EVERYTHING a beginner would need. Couldn’t recommend this bundle higher! ... show more

  • Incredible value, great for beginners.
Size: 23 inch
This is an entire starter kit for ukulele offered at an almost unbelievable price point. The number of extras and nice to have items is too numerous to list. The ukulele itself is a budget model, with nylon strings. It holds tuning about as well as expected from such an instrument. The body looks very nice, with some nice accent pieces on it. There are strap studs and an acceptable bridge. The nylon strings are set high, and the strings are soft. This aids younger players who are just getting started. Along with the instrument, included is everything else required to actually learn to play. That includes pics, a capo, tuner, cleaning cloth, strap, and more. Also included is a very nice nylon case to keep it all together. To help learn, the kit includes a small booklet printed in English. Sadly, the translation is quite poor. The book was very difficult to understand, or even infer meaning. Thankfully, there are ample guides for learning the ukulele on the internet. Overall I am very happy with this instrument, and our young players are enjoying it quite a lot. There is a bunch of value provided at a reasonable budget price. Everything needed is included, and it all works. The instrument itself sounds great, looks good, and is easy to use. I think it is worth recommending. ... show more

  • Great little ukulele kit!
Size: 21 inch
I picked up this ukulele kit not too long ago and it's been a real joy to use. The sound quality is surprisingly warm for its size and the mahogany finish gives it a nice look that feels more expensive than it is. The included tuner, strap and extra strings make it a great starter set. It's also lightweight which makes it easy to carry around or store. I really like that it comes with online lessons too. As someone who's still learning, it's helpful to have some guidance right from the start instead of having to search for tutorials elsewhere. The craftsmanship is better than I expected for the price and it feels solid when playing. I've used it for a couple of days now and it's been great for practicing simple songs in the evenings. If I had to mention one thing, the tuning tends to slip a little at first but after a few adjustments it stays in place nicely. At the moment, I would definitely recommend this item! ... show more

  • Ukulele is just okay, accessories are not
Size: 23 inch
The ukulele: 3/5 It is very light, feels nice, and has a comfortably bright tone. As with most cheap fretted instruments, the intonation goes out pretty quickly as you go up the fretboard, but not as bad as some in its price range — it would probably benefit from shaving down the very high bridge piece a bit. The fretboard is very soft and may gain marks very easily from fingernails. Frets are decent and you can run your fingers along the edges without getting caught on stray edges (you may feel some, but nothing that would be bothersome or in the way). Tuners are very cheap plastic but are smooth currently work fine. Ukulele aesthetics: 3/5 From the front, this ukulele is pretty and shines in direct light. The back would be better if it didn’t have a long (what appears to be) clamp mark from making the sunburst and grain finish. There’s also a small notch on mine on the top facing back edge that can be seen and felt. The etched logo at the top of the headstock is unsightly and only appears to make the wood (and instrument) look worse. The accessories: 2/5 • Microfiber cloth: It’s what it is. • Extra set of strings: Are what they are. • Picks: 3 thin picks. Use your fingers. • Tuner: I can’t test it because it didn’t come with “the included battery” as it was supposed as stated in the instructions. • Capo: Rough, cheap plastic with sharp stray bits and poorly assembled, but it functions if necessary. • Strap: Hard plastic pieces on a soft strap. This type of strap isn’t for the strap pegs on the ukulele, and is instead the kind the slips onto the sound hole. If you put it on the bottom of the hole and let the down-facing side of the ukulele be supported by the strap as it hangs around your neck (as it should be), the hard plastic scrapes on the back, so the clip was actually put on backwards for this use. The clip also has no padding, so it will eventually scratch up your ukulele, too. • Instruction booklet: Really bad translation from Chinese to English and is unusable if you know nothing about music and these instruments. If you’d studied music theory and are already proficient in string and fretted instruments, you can fumble your way through some of this, but you’ll already know most of it if you’re able to do so. • Case: It will hold the ukulele and accessories with minimal surface protection; not enough padding of any kind to protect the instrument beyond just carrying and storing it. The extras aren’t worth being included if they aren’t going to function properly and may actually cause damage to the main product. This reduces the value and does not increase it. All said, it’s overpriced and not a good value. ... show more
