Does a lot of functions, nice that you can expand to different vehicles for a charge. I bought for Ford, but found the extended version of Forscan does a lot more and it is free

So this is a fantastic price for a scanner of this quality. Just be sure you want to use this on a Ford or other associated brands because if you want to, say, use this on a BMW you will have to pay for a software upgrade. That's perfectly reasonable, of course, as this is advertised for Ford. This is a great option for DIY mechanics because normally devices like this are designed for professional environments that need to be used on many brands. In any case, this will do resets, diagnostics, and just about every basic to intermediate function you want out of a bidirectional scanner. You get free lifetime updates. Every works as expected and the price is fantastic.

The Creader Elite scan tool, model USA Ford, by Launch / Ediag Tools is made in PRC (china). This is a chinese Launch version of the scan tool and not a Launch USA version. Support for this tool comes out of china. This tool uses a customized Android 5 version, and is locked down to not allow for user installed applications. This scan tool does not have a battery, so the tool is only powered on when power is supplied via the OBD2 interface or a USB-C port on the bottom. The LCD screen is a bit small, only 4 inches diagonal with a 480 by 800 pixel resolution. This is a good value around $120 that includes updates via 2.4 Ghz wifi for the supported life of the model. The scan tool seems well made, and has a soft plastic bump wrap around the display. The tool is simple to use by just plugging in and having the key on. This scan tool has a lot of capability and options such as bidirectional testing and graphing, more than just a code reader. This unit does have a five year warranty. The autovin function worked great on the three ford/mazda vehicles I tested this with. 4 stars

The LAUNCH creader elite bidirectional tool delivers a great blend of user-friendly features and professional-grade diagnostics,with the bidirectional control capability that allows you to perform active tests like opening fuel pumps, cycling A/C clutches, or even testing injectors, making this easier to perform diagnostics from your own garage. PMI (Programmable Module Installation) support is a great feature for replacing or reprogramming control modules without a trip to the dealership. I find the battery registration, all-system resets, and lifetime free updates add long-term value to the tool. The interface is user-friendly, and setup was quick right out of the box. If you work on multiple vehicles within the Ford group, this scanner is worth it's weight in gold.

This scanner is very limited to what it will do. It only works on one car. It won’t work on the other four that I have and they’re all Ford vehicles. I would never buy this scanner again.
