    • Nice Upgrade
I currently don't have chickens or a chicken coup due to some severe winter weather that dropped a large branch directly on top of my old coup and damaged it pretty good. I cobbled it together enough to get me to spring, but we eventually had to move our birds to a friends farm and tear down the old coup. I just ordered the construction materials and drew out some plans for a new coup with 10 nesting boxes even though we only have 6 birds, six hens and a rooster that is possessed. I call him "CNS" (chicken noodle soup) and I've threatened to make a nice batch of soup with him as chief contributor more than a few times. I've had a variety of methods to open and close the coup door, everything from a stick to prop it open to a remote controlled opener that had more of a line of sight operation that required me to go outside to point the control at a better angle to a simple pulley and rope that still required me to step outside, but was far cheaper. I my neck of the woods we have all sorts of nocturnal creatures like raccoons, possums, badgers and more, any of whom would love to access the easy pickin's of caged chickens. I wanted something that would be easy to install, easy to operate and strong enough to keep creatures out of my coup. So when the 2023 Upgrade Automatic Chicken Coop Door appeared on the Amazon Vine feed, I was excited to request and receive one. It was the daylight sensor that excited me, but not having to wire the door in, just perfect. I've spent a while examining the door and it's strong with a nice frame that houses the motor, the battery pack and the frame that supports the whole door and I can say that this IS a quality door, constructed from nice aluminum, painted surfaces (I requested gray) and easy to understand instructions. Having a template increases the ease of installation. I don't see where they could have made it any easier. It provides every security advantage to protect my birds and I can't see a normal predator defeating this door. I installed batteries and took the door outside for an operational checkout. I used a tarp to darken the light sensor and the door operated smoothly and removing the tarp allowed the same smooth operation to open the door again. I appreciate the engineering that allows the batteries to be changed without having to remove anything other than the access cover which is at the top outside of the door. The best feature is the daylight to dark operation of the door. No more getting ready to sit down to the dinner table and suddenly remembering that I didn't close the coup door. No timers to set, nothing to worry about, the chickens are secure already. For the quality of the construction, the weather protection, multiple methods of operation and built in toughness, this is a great buy at just $70.     • Simple, effective design
This is a pretty neat little product. I'm sure the design is similar to other automatic doors, in that the door rides up and down in a track and is activated by a gear whose cogs align with perforated holes in the door. This particular door is powered by three AA batteries, which I think might be preferable to a solar setup since the sun doesn't shine here in the midwest every day. The cover is easily removable for replacement of the batteries. The only thing I don't like is, the on/off switch is inside of the battery box, so to turn the door off, you'll need to remove the cover. The automatic aspect of the door is governed by a photosensor which resides on the inside face of the door. I suppose this is fine; I just would have thought it would be on the outside. I'll have to reserve judgement of this until after I've tested it. The kit comes with the door, a template and pencil for marking a wall for cutout, mounting screws, and instructions. Overall this looks to be a good product... sturdy metal construction, simple design, and not overloaded with "features". I'm excited to get it installed. ... show more

    • UPDATED: Customer service was great and replaced my doors when they stopped working after 6 months
UPDATED: Company customer service was great and replaced my doors with their new updated doors. I haven't installed them yet but will update after installation. Brand and quality matter. I was so happy with this door to start but after 7 months it stopped working, closes in the middle of the day instead of closing at night and when set to close at night it doesn't close at all. Tried, new batteries, tried resetting...totally worthless. Buy a different brand. ... show more

Great product!! I cant say enough about it , i love the ease of my chickens being able to come out and go in to there coop whenever they like . Great thing about this particular door is it has the cover over the buttons , this is very important.. I have the other door with no protective cover and the chickens will peck at it and sometimes turn it off . Which is not what you want . So if your going to buy one I highly recommend getting one like this with the cover. Works perfect just set the time you want it to open and close and your all set . Easy to install as well .great product thanks!!! ... show more

I'm very happy with this door. In terms of installation, it is very simple. It's a nice design and well made, really liked the setting options that automatically turn on in the morning and automatically turn off in the evening, and everything seemed to go smoothly
