I was a professional mechanic for 10 years and have used a variety of factory and aftermarket scan tools. Pros: price, size,2years of updates, capabilities, obd1 adapters, Wi-Fi capable, Bluetooth obd2 plug. Cons: initial setup can be lengthy, long to start up. -scan tool size is that of a smart phone which is great because you don’t have a big bulky device or case to store. -This scanner for about $650 has more capabilities than scanners I’ve seen at the $3k+ price point . -you get 2 years of updates for free. My old MAC tools scanner (that this is replacing) wanted $2,700 to do an update. - capability example: I am no longer a professional mechanic but needed a scan tool with more capability. For a 2003 Ram 2500, I was able to program keyless entry remotes, can right vin number to a NEW PCM(not able to over write a used pcm vin without the pcm pin but if you had the pin you could use this scanner), change pinion factor (to correct speedometer for taller tires/final drive gear ratio) and could program keys if equip with immobilizer. I can’t even include everything it can do. -comes with a wireless OBD2 plug which is better than having a cable hanging in the way if you need to work under the dash to troubleshoot or need to test drive the vehicle. -Wi-Fi capability is great because you can download directly with this scan tool instead of using adapter cables or a usb stick to do updates. Also you can use the internet on the scanner if you need further troubleshooting help. The only negative things I can think of…. -takes a while to turn on and get to the main screen but this is could be considered typical of smart phones or PC’s. - for initial setup you will need to connect to Wi-Fi, have the registration number of the scanner and register the scan tool. - doing the initial update may not be required but I would recommend it. Why not load the latest version as this may save you a headache later on. Updates usually fix found bugs and may include enhanced features. But be aware that doing this massive initial update may take up to an hour. ... show more

The scanner is very powerful, have a lot of features, it is the best value for money choice. Also the seller is very responsive, they replied any inquiries in a very professional way and in timely manner.

    • What a great tool for the money!
I love this tool, I currently have a lot of vehicle specific tools, include a Foxwell for Mercedes, various BMW tools Bavarian Technic setup, BimmerCode, BMW tools (inpa eidibas etc), probably have at least $1000 invested over the years. This single tool for $750 so far does everything all the other tools could do and more. I was looking to get a Mercedes Star setup which is 700-800 and hard to use, but this can do all the teach-in and scn coding I needed star for, I have used it for some tech-in processes include the Cam Adjuster teach in, I have done BMW coding to change settings and programing replacement modules and all works perfectly and is very easy to use and now I can do literally any other vehicle brand too, before I was limited to specific models and brands. So overall a much better value and easy to understand and use, like have a 5-10k Autel or Snap-on for a DIY budget - highly recommended for the DIYer or a professional even. ... show more

Update: After close to 3 months of use I can say this scanner has more than paid for itself and it has capabilities almost exactly like my $2800 Autel. Basically it has all of the same tests the Autel does and when I have a few minutes to poke around in the tool on different cars I go through the menus and see what other functions are listed and let me tell you this tool does so much for $500ish dollars if it broke tomorrow I'd buy another one because I don't know of anything out there that will do this much stuff for this little money. I still think the hardware could be improved but if you're buying something else you're paying too much. Ok so this product has some ups and downs but the positives far outweigh the negatives. The hardware is simply an android phone with a really different case holding the Bluetooth OBD2 adapter. The hardware is lackluster in that the phone/tool is locked down with no access to the play store to make it really shine with access to all of Google's apps which I utilize several of to help me find information on vehicles as well as share that information with customers. The battery is rather weak when using the tool constantly even when turning off GPS and turning down the screen brightness it's very normal to be down 10-15% in 20-30 minutes. Although I will say without continuous use the battery did last a full day off and on looking at several vehicles. Where this tool really shines is the Launch X431 software which is awesome. It will do a ton of things (and possibly more) that my $2800 Autel MX908 will do at a price tag that is much much better. This tool is already making me money and helping me fix cars. I've used it to interface with BMW, Chrysler, Chevrolet, GMC, and Toyota and it has had zero problems seeing and then communicating with all the modules on these vehicles and not only that but performing a full system scan. This is where the Diagun 4 falters a bit in that I can't install Gmail to export the reports and instead I would have to share them with Bluetooth to my phone or computer. I'm not sure if this tool is really well suited for beginners or someone not familiar with digging through data pids and being able to reason out where a particular data pid would be located in the available data. For an example, I wanted to know what the computer was reading on a vehicle that wouldn't start and had no fuel pressure but the fuel gauge wasn't reading correctly in that it was off the scale. I had to keep looking for the data pids for fuel level and found it in the EVAP data since the EVAP system has to do with the fuel and fuel tank this made sense but it wasn't in with a general list like it is in my Autel and older Snap on Modis. This model may be a bit much for someone just wanting to get codes out of a system on a car, but the functions for bi-directional controls to be able to activate components like fuel pumps, fans, purge valves, run windows up and down, reset throttle position after cleaning, and reset steering angle sensors all add up to making this tool well worth the money. ... show more
