This new iMac replaces one that is 13 years old. Don't get me wrong, the old one still works, but it is so slow by today's standards that I needed to invest in a new one. Just like other Apple products, set up is super easy. Coming from PC's is a bit of a learning experience but not bad. The only thing I would improve is the keyboard. Tiny and not ergonomic at all. I want to buy a friendlier keyboard but don't want to lose the sign-in key. Other I love this computer.

With respect to gaming, Mac’s are simply great at playing games when purchased through the Mac App Store or the iPad App Store. Obviously, the Rod Family is side-loading or downloading third party buggy games; no surprise they are having constant hiccups. Their problem is their software choice, not the iMac. As far as their suggestion on “spending your money on something more long lasting and reliable like an actual PC”, they are dead wrong. Nothing lasts longer than a Mac and nothing holds their resale value longer than a Mac. Mac’s depreciate about 10% per year after purchase; PC’s about 30%. So, say you buy a Mac for $1k; you can easily sell it for $800 two years later. Buy a PC for $1k and you can garner at most $400 through resale two years later. The Rod Family failed to do their research, and their review is simply unreliable. ... show more

    • There are a few things I wish I had known before I bought this...
...I wish I had known that Apple had switched to USB-C ports for all accessories. This machine only has 2 of them--not a real problem, IF I had known other things: I didn't know what an ordeal it would be to use a SuperDrive with it. For those of you who don't know, A SuperDrive plays most discs--audio CDs, CD-ROMs, DVDs, pretty much anything except Blu-Ray. It also has the ability to write (play) those formats. I still use audio CDs. I have a HUGE iTunes Library, which I have been building since iTunes first existed (iTunes started as a way of storing music from CDs). This is my 3rd iMac. I had assumed that to solve my lack-of-ports problem, I would be able to use a standard USB hub. It worked fine for the 2 aftermarket external Hard drives I have. But not the SuperDrive. Finally, I got advice from the Apple Support Community to buy an Apple-specific adapter cable. It works! Other than those issues, this is working out to be a damn nice computer... It's plenty fast and the picture quality is stunning. It's a little light on storage--256 GB--but that's Solid-State storage, like what's in a thumb drive, so it's faster and more durable. And right now, storage of most kinds is very inexpensive. Now, everything is working well. I'm glad I bought this. ... show more

Would prefer a the full length keyboard instead of the small version that's included. Also for the M1, works okay however never feels fast and spiffy... even on quality wifi browsing. Does use a non-standard connection on the power cable to the body of the iMac (unlike 20 years of power cables.) Why reinvent that connection and the wheel there? This iMac just meets overall expectations so it's fine for our Grandma or the little ones. If that's you, great as this is the entry level price point. Otherwise may look for a bit more advanced iMac or MacBook. ... show more
