These worked great!!! Bought a couple of 10’ kayaks and needed a way to transport them. I can understand some of the frustration from some of the other reviews about assembling them. The dinky tool they provide will give you carpal tunnel if you try to put these together with that. However, I found that using a 13mm deep well socket on an impact drill really does the trick! Only took about 5 minutes each to put them together After that, I found them fairly easy to attach to the crossbars on my Pathfinder. The kayaks fit really nicely in there. I was pleasantly surprised with the included ratchet straps. The held everything down nice and snug. I did heed warnings though and used a couple extra straps I had just to be on the safe side. I was driving 80 down the freeway with these on top and they didn’t budge!! I will offer a word of caution though, the kayaks can act as a giant wind sail and can provide some steering resistance if you’re traveling on a windy day. Other than that, no complaints about these. If I run into any issues, I’ll update.

We bought these mounts and used them on a 7 hour round trip with our 2 kayaks. The mounts kept loosening up and bending over. I thought we might lose them on a bumpy stretch of road! They only have one anchor point, so they rock toward the high side of the J mount where most of the weight leans. We are working on adding more to the mounts that attach to the roof rack, but they are not safe as they are sold. I read the review from the guy who thought only people who don’t have power tools give bad ratings, but I completely disagree. If the seller wants to provide a safe mount, they should include 1 more bottom bracket per mount assembly. Update: the seller sent 4 more brackets, so I’m giving them 5 stars for their help. We will try the rack with these brackets and hope it will be safe.

Easy install and tie down kayaks.

We put these kayak holders on our 2020 Honda Pilot. They took about an hour to attach to the cross trails. I had to use pliers to tighten the black plastic knobs, and I had to retighten them after our drive. The hold down straps worked well to hold our kids kayaks in place, but they did loosen up a little as we drove. Just a quick pull and they were tight. It would be better if the straps were longer; that would make it easier to loop the straps over the kayaks. It definitely helps to use a step ladder when we're loading the kayaks, and to put the straps on and tighten them. I may remove those plastic knobs on the bottom of the clamps and find better nuts to hold them tightly in place.

These J-hooks are adequate, but if you have heavy kayaks you may find that they will bend. Over time they also will rust and break.

Came complete, assemble with no issues had tools to assemble with. Seems good quality. Have not installed on vehicle yet.wsiting for spring.

Easy installation! I am by no means a handy person and this was quick and easy. Drove 5 plus hours with it on top of my car with no problems! Great product

Within the first week, and after only one rain, when I went to remove these j hooks to pull into the garage and do an oil change, they were absolutely impossible even with WD-40 rust penetrator to remove from two of the j hooks. Further and having to use a wrench I eventually had to give up and cut them off with a grinder. They were fine to use, I didn't find that particular wobbly or weak maybe a little narrow, but obviously not being able to easily take them on and off is a deal breaker.
