Once you put both dewalt batteries in this it's a beast and is chewing through everything quite nicely. The chain is nice and sharp I just had to sharpen it once so far. It's slower than my Tanaka 12 in 2-cycle chainsaw and quite a bit heavier, but it does cut through everything so far. I like that it uses my DeWalt batteries since I already have four of them and I'd rather spend money on the tool and not batteries if that makes sense. Unless you are Thor you're going to have to use two hands most of the time with this chainsaw. I can cut one or two four or five inch limbs one armed before it just gets too heavy. Even if you use smaller DeWalt batteries I think it's still going to be quite heavy I'm using double 5 amps so that's a lot of battery weight on the tool. It lubricates really well goes through oil fast but I don't care you can use cheap vegetable oil by the way on chainsaws. Have fun there's always something to cut down!

Good. Cuts well with sharp chain and high capacity batteries. The build quality is good but not great but it's a good value for the money for light duty use. The size and weight are good, similar to equal size/power gas saws. I have a lot of DeWalt tools, so it is convenient sharing the same battery platform. I like electric saws for occasional use because they are quieter and no need to manage stinky gas. Run time is short with batteries, but that works out okay for occasional home use for me.

This saw is a trooper! It was able to take down 25' tall/16" thick palm tree and then chop it into manageable pieces. It's a proper tool for such job. The saw was cutting through the dense palm trunk with an ease. It was jamming only in the thickest parts, where it was necessary to cut a wedge. Still, no drama at all. The saw is very powerful, the battery life is ok -- two fully charged 4AH batteries were allowing to make 6-7 cuts across 16" thick trunk. I'm an amateur -- I had to make cuts from different sides and roll downed tree to avoid jams. Someone who makes living cutting trees would probably manage to get better battery life. The saw does not deplete batteries to "un-chargeable" level. After the saw depletes the battery and ceases to operate, it was possible to start charging the battery immediately. The chain gets loose after several cuts, but it's easy to adjust it. Also, it's easy and convenient to disassemble the saw for cleaning. The saw is more powerful and effective than yellow brand alternative.

The media could not be loaded. I was excited for this saw. I read reviews did the homework and figured I'd risk it as I couldn't afford the Dewalt 20v version and liked the idea of 40v's and not having to buy 60v batteries to add to my collection. It worked for 2 test cuts of 1 inch branches. I took the batteries off and put it in garage. A few days later a large 15 foot limb fell in my driveway. I thought, "Heck yeah let's really test this thing!" I put 2 20 volt fully charged (night before) batteries on it. Nothing. I flipped safety, took batteries on and off. Now I have 1 green light indicating dead or very low batteries. It turned the chain when I tried it this time. 2 trigger pulls, 2 rotations. Then tried it. No green lights. Repeated steps above. Never turned again I then tried my 2 other Waitley knock off Dewalt compatable batteries. Same thing. No lights or 1 light for freshly charged batteries. Hasn't turned since. Now Ive got a log sitting in my lawn (pulled out of the way of drive). Yay. Hopefully you have better luck than me. Now I have to go through the hassle of returning the item. I wish this hadn't happened bc now I feel no trust in the product even if I get a replacement and I really liked the concept of using my 20v batteries I already own yo get 40 volts, rather than invest in 60 volt line of batteries and start a new collection ) :
