  • Better features and upgrades than older version we had before. Great for Midwest usa
Size: 6500 Gallons
Excited to try this version out. The older one we had last year had an issue and the company warranty covered this newer version. Hoping for a wonderful spring through later fall pool season in Ohio.

  • Excellent heater so far.
Size: 3000 Gallons
Have had this heater installed for about a week now, and so far it's doing an excellent job. We upgraded our pool size this year to an approximately 1800 gal model, and the heater increased the water temperature from about 58 degrees to 80+ degrees in just a couple of days. Keeping the pool covered anytime it's not in use definitely helps with heat retention. Too early to tell what kind of impact the heater will have on the electric bill, but as this is an actual heat pump, I'm hoping it will be minimal, if at all. On our prior pool, which was about half the size, we were using several wand heaters (my wife called them curling iron heaters) , and you could feel the cords getting warm from the amp draw so I know they got the electric meter spinning. The only concern I had was a small amount of water that became visible from one bottom corner of the heater. Vidapool service confirmed that this was normal condensation from the pump operation, which I suspected. Once the water appeared, I did a pretty thorough inspection for leaks and none were detected. I guess the only negative comment (and not a big one) I have is that communication with Vidapool service can only be conducted via email, there does not appear to be a way to talk to someone live. Thus the 4 stars as versus 5. However, the two times I have emailed them (once for warranty registration and then for the water concern) they responded promptly. Also, with regard to the warranty, the unit had a registration card in the box that offered a free upgrade from 2 years to 3 years on the warranty, with one free replacement available if necessary. Almost forgot, the app that's available for remote connectivity is a major plus. I can easily track the pool temp from the inlet reading on the app, and then bump up the temp in the morning while I'm at work if I know the granddaughter is going to be using the pool in the afternoon. Nice perk! ... show more

  • Struggles to Heat and Not Worth The Money
Size: 5000 Gallons
Very disappointed with this pool heater. Despite the advertised 16,000 BTU output, it struggled to raise the temperature of my pool by more than a few degrees, even under favorable weather conditions. The heating performance was slow and inconsistent, making it difficult to enjoy the pool when temperatures dropped. The WiFi functionality was also frustrating. The app connection was unreliable and frequently disconnected, defeating the purpose of having remote control features. The unit may be advertised as quiet, but I found the compressor noise more noticeable than expected, especially during longer run times. Installation was straightforward, but that doesn't make up for the poor performance. For the price, I expected a heater that could efficiently maintain a comfortable swimming temperature. Instead, it consumed time and electricity without delivering the results promised. Unfortunately, this product did not meet expectations and I would not recommend it. Your money is better spent elsewhere. ... show more

  • Works well at warming the pool water, but there are limitations.
This has a thermometer to measure the temperature of the water that it receives from the pool and another one that measures the temperature of the unit itself. This took a couple of days for my pool to measure 85* from it starting point of 66*. There is no pump in this unit, so it relies on your pool pump to circulate your water from the pool through the unit and then back out into the pool. I didn't see any reduction in the flow strength. Another thing to keep in mind, is that this wont heat all of the water in the entire pool, unless you have a very strong filter that will circulate ALL of the pool water efficiently enough to move the levels of water. For example. When it measured 85* in my pool, both with the unit and my pool thermomotor, it was significantly cooler in the lower levels of the pool. Once we got in and had moved around for a few minutes, the temperature dropped down to 77*. So you will want to occasionally take off the pool cover and try to get the water layers to mix. A few things to keep in mind for installation: This is almost just a plug and play set up. You have to place it at least 6 feet away from the pool and on a flat surface. I choose to put it on pavers, not only for stability, but also to raise it off the ground just a couple inches. You will need 2 hoses that are a minimum of 6 ft long each. The electrical cord is a decent length. There are rubber feet that really help keep it stable and reduce vibration while its running. This is very quiet, and is probably quieter than my pool pump. This has adapters that will allow hoses of multiple sizes to fit. I honestly am not sure that I would buy this again, because I feel like a good solar pool cover will work just as well, unless you are wanting to open your pool significantly earlier. ... show more

  • Small but mighty if used wisely Small but mighty if used wisely
This pool heater heat pump is great for a small pool to extend your swimming season or if you live in a cooler climate. Like many pool heaters it suggests to reach optimal temperatures to keep your pool cover on the pool while heating and to reinstall the cover after each use to help retain heat. That’s just the nature of the beast for small, above ground pool heaters where there is no earth mass around the sides of the pool to help retain heat. This heater is short and stocky with a heft. My initial fear was what if it gets bumped and moves around but this thing weighs about as much as our sand filter full of sand. Once installed it’s not going anywhere. I recommend putting steeping stones or brick pavers under the unit for stability if using in a yard. The biggest restriction is making sure your filter pump will work with the unit. If the water flows too fast through the system it will have difficulty heating the water as it needs time traveling through the internal heating ducts to warm up properly. All of the connections to attach this to a standard small, above ground pool are included and in case you still need another part these interact well with after market pool parts for above ground pools making it an economical pool heater. Not going to lie we never pull our cover over our pool after we have opened it for the season so our temps may not be completely ideal but we have warm days with coolish nights which is when the heat leaches out of our pool. So for our situation we run it from around sun down to sun up for optimal results and we are only keeping our pool 84 to 86 degrees so we can swim early mornings without freezing. So far no leaks or issues so it’s been a great addition to our pool. ... show more

  • Fantastic Early Start to Our Swim Season!
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 Stars Fantastic Early Start to Our Swim Season! I recently installed the Vidapool 35,000 BTU Heat Pump for my pool, and after testing it for the past three days, I am thoroughly impressed. If you are on the fence about extending your swim season, this unit is a game-changer. Performance & Heating We installed this on our pool (which is approximately 9,000 gallons), and it has performed exactly as advertised. Within just a few days of operation, we have already noticed a significant, consistent increase in water temperature. Being able to open our pool much earlier than usual this year has been a huge win for the family. It’s comforting to know we can finally swim comfortably even when the weather is still on the cooler side. Energy Efficiency & Technology One of the main reasons I chose the Vidapool, aside from the 35,000 BTU output, was the intelligent inverter technology. I love that it doesn’t just blast at full power and shut off; it dynamically adjusts its output to maintain the temperature. It’s far more efficient than the old heating methods we’ve used in the past, and I’m expecting to see those savings on my energy bill. Smart Control & Noise Level The WiFi integration is incredibly convenient. Being able to adjust the temperature and set schedules directly from my phone means the pool is always ready when we want to use it. Plus, it is remarkably quiet. Even when standing near the unit, the 32 dB noise level is barely noticeable, which is a big plus since our pool equipment is relatively close to our patio area. Installation & Support Installation was very straightforward. The package came with multiple connection options (1.25" and 1.5" adapters, plus a PVC converter), which made hooking it up to our existing plumbing painless and hassle-free. While we haven’t needed to reach out for major repairs, it is reassuring to know that the company offers dedicated professional technical support. Verdict For $1,799, this heat pump offers a great balance of power, efficiency, and modern convenience. It’s well-built, quiet, and does exactly what it promises. No leaks easy to instal! If you have a pool up to 9,000 gallons and want to reclaim your swim season, I highly recommend the Vidapool 35,000 BTU unit. Fantastic value for your money! Pro Tip: As the manufacturer suggests, make sure to use a pool cover—it really helps the unit maintain that heat more efficiently during the cooler nights! ... show more

  • Nice heater but a few things to know...
Here are a few things I think others need to consider before buying this heater or something similar: - Power supply - make sure you have an accessible outlet and extension cord and both are rated for the proper amperage that won't make your circuit trip if you have other items plugged into the same circuit. - Water circulation - I found that this heats really well but if your pool is anything like mine then the water outlet from the pump is closer to the surface than the bottom. This means a very distinct and extremely noticeable temperature difference between the bottom of the the pool and top exists requiring occasional stirring or mixing of some kind in order to achieve the desired temperature. - Water pump - this does not pump water so you have to hook it up in-line with your existing pump. This ties back into my first point about power supply. Most likely you'll be running this off the same circuit as your pump. -Size and location - This takes up a bit of room, especially since it is in-line with the pump, and also requires a level surface. You'll need to plan accordingly for that extra space. - Installation is a breeze. Not a lot to it really. -Noise level - Pretty minimal, you can tell when it's running but its not annoying or anything. Value - it can pay for itself pretty fast by getting you to use your pool more often since it's more comfortable and by extending your pool season. It's really all based on how much you factor the two. ... show more
