My first impression was that they are a thicker gage metal than the original ones. I was also concerned about the fit. But these are the exact same pattern as the ones I was replacing. Was doing a garage door insulation project and found i had a bunch of cracked brackets, used these to replace them all. So far so good after a few weeks. Couple had some metal burs on inside but the roller punched them out. Did some measurements to confirm thickness as i wanted a thicker bracket, these seem true to being 14 on the base but not the sides for some reason, though i would imagine they are just bent up from a single piece. These will do for me.

I replaced all the hinges and rollers on my garage door (Go with nylon rollers, they’re wayyyy quieter) and everything went well until I got to the middle of the door. I bought a kit of 2 number 3s, 2 number 2s, and 4 numbers 1s and everything was going fine. I needed 7 more number 1s so I bought these and they didn’t open and close freely like the other ones and the holes were off maybe about an eighth of an inch. I marked my old JG5 number 1 hinges before I removed them too. I’m very nervous after installing to open the garage door since I had to drill about 2 new holes each hinge and they don’t seem to line up with my marks (I started with the bottom bolts and continued up one at a time). Having a buddy come by who owns a garage door company because I just don’t trust these. The other ones moved freely and I was able to reuse the same holes. I’m giving this a 2 because I just feel like these were cheaply made and don’t fit correctly, but I’ll know more in a couple days..

These were a hair shorter than mine, Three out of four holes were not an issue but the 4th hole was. I had to drill a new hole . My door is from 1982 so that may be the issue. Would have been great otherwise.

I have a set of garage doors that are nearly 45 years old on the original hardware. I started looking at the center hinges and noticed that they were quite sticky an corroded and some of the bolts were not holding anymore. Got these to replace them and I am really impressed with how functional and flexable they are. Decent gauge of steel and look well made. They are galvanized to help with corrosion. The best thing about them is that the mounting slots are quite long and make them very accommodating for different existing mounting patterns or for moving the bolts to unused areas (like I did) to allow the bolts to get a better grip. In operation they seem to be much smoother than the old ones. You can actually hear the difference in noise levels (less now) as the door goes up and down. One thing to note is that they do not come with mounting hardware. This is actually a good thing because it allows you to get the correct fastener type for your door. It took me about 10 minutes to change all 4 of my doors hinges with a power drill and a hex head bit. Now I just need to change out the rest of the hinges and rollers but these made a large improvement in operation.

For some reason these are about 1/8th of an inch shorter that standard hinges. Bottom hole will not line up. Buy something else.
