Whoever lives above my apartment has the grace of an elephant - I heard disturbingly loud footsteps all the time, as late as 2AM. And banging the ceiling with a broom wasn't helping them get the picture. I ordered this 12 pack, and used 3M command strips to hang them to the ceiling. I did 3 separate 2x2 squares in different sections of the ceiling. This DID NOT eliminate the noise, but has moderately quietened it. I don't have experience with other acoustic panels for comparison, but overall I am satisfied with their performance. ... show more

I used 24 in my movie room. 12 on each wall left and right. I can tell a slight difference after putting them on the walls. I used the 3M square double sided tape, one in each corner, and it was very easy to stick them up. I ordered 12 more packs of 12 to do the rest. The color that I received is darker than the image shown and some are more black and some are more grey (see pictures). They are not perfectly square so tiling the walls will leave uneven gaps here and there... I actually don't mind because my room in dimly lit normally and the walls are grey as well so it's not that noticeable unless you look close. I will probably end up cutting some in triangles to make it more decorative where I end the runs. I looked at many other options before these and figured this would be the most cost effective solution. Since the room is dark normally, they don't need to be perfect and 12 for thirty bucks is really a good deal. I gave them 5 stars because dim lit I think it looks better than the funky foam stuff from normal studio sound proofing. For me these work great and are the best value to cover the most space. I built a sheet metal enclosure for my 4.7kw 233cc gas generator. The enclosure is on a bumper rack on my rv and about a two foot cube. This is a general purpose type of generator, it’s a open frame type, large muffler but not a silencer, so it does not have any type of noise suppression devices at all. I got 92db at 25 feet. I lined the inside of my enclosure with this product and dropped the noise level down to 78-80db but it also removed a lot of the rattling noise of a air cooled motor creates. The noise is very muffled and not harsh to the ear. I only ordered enough of this product to cover the inside in one layer. For air flow reasons, I did not enclosure the bottom of the enclosure so only five of the six sides of my enclosure has sound suppressive material installed so unabated noise is still coming from the bottom of the enclosure. I took the sound reading in my driveway, on concrete, which probably would allow the sound to reflect or bounce out and up and probably will be quieter on grass or dirt that would absorb some of the noise. I think this is a pretty harsh test for any sound suppression product and I’m very impressed and happy with the results. I don’t know if using more of the product and installing a second layer would improve lowering the noise level. I would highly recommend this product and it’s a great price. ... show more

These are just polyester fibers and do nothing to reduce noise. Might as well save money and hang old t shirts on your wall with same results.

I made liners inside a box for my generator and tested the sound. 20ft away, I can her the wind blowing in the trees over my generator. And since they are Flame Retardant, I can sleep in my tent nice and sound.

I bought two sets to help dim street sound in my bedroom and they're so fantastic. They look way better than normal foam boards and are a fantastic value/price. I also might cut them up into triangles, but for now I'm super happy and love them a ton. I put mine in a checker board pattern split between three walls which looks very nice. I wish they were available in white or at least light grey, but this is pretty great as is. ... show more

Versatile solution for sound control on the cheap. In my case have some expensive sound panels in music studio but needed some extra pieces to put on mirror, etc. using pre primed 20x24 blank canvas panels, adding this to the inside of frame makes great budget panel.
