    • A little overrated and a few design flaws

OK first off, this thing is pretty good but has some MAJOR design flaws and bc of that for it’s price point it should be better. Most professional studios will have a problem with the design bc most studios will use a Large Diaphragm Condenser mic that will have an XLR cable run out of the bottom of the mic. The Halo has an attachment that sticks out underneath where most XLR come down to and therefore the attachment is in the way of the cable freely hanging down. You can adjust this but when you do, it moves the mic out of the desired area of the Halo. If you raise the mic higher to accommodate the wire then your mic now is too high. You kinda want the mic to sit in the middle of this thing and you can not do it without buying other accessories. For it’s price point it isn’t worth the trouble especially if you are using Tube mics. I tried getting a right angle 5 pin XLR and they are not cheap. I can also invert the mic so it hangs upside down but the pole they secure the mic onto is not long enough to achieve the height needed so you would need to buy mic stand extension tubes. Bottom line, they spent too much time being eco friendly and up charging but failed to recognize a MAJOR design flaw especially when they are not the first to design this. Out of respect for the years of service their similar product has given me, I won't use the brand's name - but the Aston simply crushes it. I'm shocked by how such a small, lightweight device absorbs so much sound. Would definitely recommend to anyone with any kind of studio.

I was very skeptical because of how expensive it was. It definitely makes the job done and makes my vocals sound much clearer. I had to go buy a mic stand because it is extremely heavy. 10/10

    • Fantastic, really made a difference in my recrdings

I was hesitant on purchasing this because of opinions i heard. But after using this in my makeshift youtube recording studio, it made a HUGE difference in my recordings. I have a lot of room reflections because my room is totally untreated and has framed pictures on all the walls. On top of that one of the bordering walls has a bathroom on the other side so sometimes you can hear running water. Using this i was able to place my back against my open closet and with this Halo in front of me, it cut down nearly everything and made the recordings sound so much cleaner. I would definitely hold my expectations to something reasonable though. It isn't going to drown out a ton of background noise or soundproof. It is meant to stop echo and cut the room reflections and it does a fantastic job of it. You just have to tweak where and how you use it. The quality is fantastic, and it is super light, but you can tell it is made of quality materials. The mount was also super easy to use which on the competition out there like SPACE SE have complaints on. Definitely worth giving this a shot, i highly recommend it. ... show more

I love this filter! It works great with my MXL 4000 and does a fantastic job at keeping out any extra noise or room tone. Between this and my little Dragonpad Pop Filter, I end up with a perfectly dry recording practically every time. It's super easy to construct and it is made so that the microphone can slide freely forward or backward into or from the filter. The filter itself is made very sturdy considering how light it is and it has a nice acoustic felt finish. The only thing that I have to say about this product before anyone else encounters the same problem that I did... Because this product is made in the UK and my microphone is American made, at first the holder for the mic on the filter was unable to be screwed into the microphone because it was too small. The part that needs to be screwed in is 3/8" and my microphone had a hole for a 5/8" screw, so to fix this all I had to do was order a 3/8" female to 5/8" male threaded screw adapter and it fit perfectly! I haven't had any issues with it since and I would definitely recommend this filter for anyone that is looking for a great quality reflection filter fit for the price. ... show more

The recordings I have made with this are quiet and clear, so me = happy. The only con is that the rigging for the mic could be much better - you have to be resourceful to be able to mount a mic and figure out how to make the cord fit. For example, I have a blue mic and I am forced to mount it all the way out from the reflection filter in order to be able to plug the mic in -- and this cuts down on what the reflection filter can do for you. I have other mics that I can't use with this. Maybe a trip to the hardware store could help with that. So this is five stars for the reflection filter, but the mounting hardware design is seriously flawed. But I would still recommend to a friend. ... show more
