  • Sturdy and safe-so good I ordered a second one
I bought this for my dad who has reduced mobility due to illness and wanted some extra stability getting in and out of his shower. I was reluctant to buy a suctioning product, and I thought there was no way it could support him, but we couldn't drill into his shower surround and keep it waterproof so I thought I would give it a try. The suction cups are large, and they hold tight. They can be positioned any way that suits the user and can be moved up or down whether the user stand to shower or uses a shower chair without having to drill holes in the shower. There is an indicator on the side of the handle which shows if you have quality suction or not. It shows green when suction is good and red, when it isn't. It worked so well that I ordered a second one. After two months of using them, they have only needed to be adjusted one time to make sure they were suctioned properly. They have allowed my dad to shower independently without help, which is really important. ... show more

  • A successful tale.
See my original review below. My 11.24.2024 6 week update is I put a very thin layer of vasoline and 6 weeks later they are working perfectly. I bought three of these for my wife who will be convalescing from a long stay at a hospital. I have an acrylic/pvc type bath/shower enclosure so puncturing or affixing hardware is not an option. Although attractive and rugged to the eye and to the feel, they all lost suction repeatedly and fell into the tub which jumped the heck out me and the dogs :). I was going to return them but re-read the reviews, and found this is a common problem with all of these types of devices. In fact it's a common problem with any type of device using suction type cups large or small. I had to use Dr. Google to figure out how they will stay mounted. I ended up using Vaseline which apparently pressures the tiny bubbles out that eventually cause the device (3) to lose suction. I also re-treated the mounting area with alcohol. It's impossible to talk to anyone at the manufacturer which confirms that you purchase from a US company or at least a company with a phone number. So, I will stay with this purchase unless they continue to fail, after exhausting all options. I simply want them to work. 48 hours now and counting they are rock solid with no failure yet. If this remains so for a reasonable length of time I will re-rate them. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY!!!!!
Do not buy this!!! It does not work! I bought this for my father who just had a hip replacement. It seems attached and stable, the indicators are green, but it pops right off the shower wall. I assumed it must be user error so I kept reattaching it and trying it again and every morning, it’s lying on the floor of his shower. Of course I bought it long before the surgery from 2,000 miles away so I couldn’t try it out before hand and I can’t return it. Don’t make the same mistake I made. Just don’t buy it. ... show more

  • Initially, held well
It worked better than expected - until it just popped off the tile. Luckily, no one was holding on to it when it did that.

  • Just what the doctor ordered!
Because I have had significant medical issues resulting in falls, my doctor told be to get a shower handle. It is easy to install anywhere you want. Special kudos for the indicators at each end. Green means it is secure, red means it is loose. Reinstallation is a snap. Find a new spot, clean and install by simply opening and closing each end. Because of my history falling, I'm really happy to have something that holds firmly when I enter or exit the shower. ... show more

  • Working so Far
This grab bar is a huge help for my husband - it is great for him to stabilize himself and assist him in getting up from the shower chair but I think mainly to steady himself and stepping in and our of the walk in shower. It has made showering a more secure ordeal which is wonderful. I really like that it has the safety green and red colors to alert you should it come loose. I could really feel and see the suction happening when pushing the levers down - I am feeling good about this :) It seems that most of these grab bars are for larger tiles or solid flat areas - we have 4 inch tiles so I was really happy to find this one as it fits perfectly with the 4 inch squares. Our surface is not completely flat but has a slight dimpling here and there but so far is a tight fit. We are watching it carefully as the instructions say flat surfaces only. ... show more

  • Suction cup safe indicators fell apart
While lying in our garden tub, trying to figure out where to install this device, the suction cup red-green safety device indicator at one end fell apart. After moving the device from place to place for it's best location, the pin had backed out allowing the red-green indicator and it's tiny spring to fall into the tub with me. I found that the other sides retaining pin had little ability to stay in place, a slight push and out it came. Clearly a design flaw. I haven't even got to test it's holding power yet, no doubt it is fine judging by all the positive reviews. Point is, if a safety device is touted to warn the customer about security of the suction cups and it's safe installation, it better not fall apart! Buying some expensive super glue to apply to the pin ends would do it if super glue is compatible with this plastic. But then driving the cost of this device into the $30's for this piece of plastic. So does the customer re-engineer this device or send it back? Is this nit picking, I don't think so. Update 11-18-24: I ordered a second one to replace the defective one and it is perfect, holds as if device was professionally installed into the tile shower wall, suction is that good. The price on the 2nd one had dramatically changed, much less, now making it a good buy. So I ordered 3rd one Nov 8th. (Remember the defective 1st one went back). The first devices were called the following "TenderTouches 12-Inch Shower Handle, Bathtub Safety Aids for Disabled and Elderly, Safety Grab Bar Suction Cup, Heavy Duty No Drilling Removable Shower Handrails for Seniors". Now it's called "12 inch, pack of 10". What does that mean? These people are having serious problems in translation and destination country. My last one arrived with no safe indication system as described in the product information. Perhaps mine with no safety indications system was for the China market but the box was written English. Where the safety indicator part should be is smoothed over, omitted. ... show more
