Just mounted this. Probably blacks out adequately, but there's a HUGE CREASE down the middle that won't smooth out. Images by seller must've been photoshopped to get rid of the wrinkles. This is probably fine for a college dorm covering, but looks really bad with the huge crease. Doubt that you could steam or iron it out.

This roller shade absolutely delivers on light blocking. It darkened the room completely, even in full sun, which made a big difference for sleep and glare reduction. The silver backing also helped cool the room down noticeably in the afternoon, especially in upper-level rooms that get direct sunlight. Installation was fast and simple. It really is a no-drill solution - just peel the adhesive strips and stick it into place. The adhesive is strong enough to hold the shade even on painted drywall (just make sure the surface is clean), and the magnetic buckles and tension rod system make it easy to roll up or down. I was able to get it installed solo in under 10 minutes. Functionality-wise, it’s simple but effective. It opens and closes smoothly and can be rolled up neatly when not in use. The magnetic strip at the bottom helps anchor it, though if you're expecting a perfect seal or hotel blackout quality, this may fall just short. The look is minimal and clean, especially for a blackout solution that isn’t custom-fit. It’s not a design centerpiece, but it blends into the window frame just fine. The black side facing the room doesn’t call too much attention to itself. Value for money is solid, especially for renters, RV owners, or anyone needing a quick, no-hassle blackout fix. Just note: if you want it to look seamless and stay up long-term, press firmly during install and avoid repositioning once stuck.

I think I should have paid more attention to some of the other reviewers when ordering this. I had different expectations of the blackout roller shades. It's simply not convenient to use them. The look and ability to block out the sun was adequate, I suppose. But you might as well just take some thumbtacks and pin up a thick tapestry over a window for the lack of convenience that the method of putting it up offers. The quality has room for improving. We might still use this for a while, but I know we won't be ordering any more in the future.
