  • Bring your Audi into the future
Color: Linux 10.25" Q5 GP
The media could not be loaded. This multimedia display is challenging to set up, but after working out a few settings, it works excellently and I'm very happy with the purchase. This unit from AINAVI and sold by HomeCar had the most "Verified Purchase" reviews as opposed to other similar units which had mainly Amazon Vine reviews and is why I went with this particular unit. Knowing the installation on my 2016 Audi Q5 could be challenging, I also liked how Customer Care is advertised directly on the Amazon listing. I'm going to try and dispel some of the bad reviews for this product. I installed this on a 2016 Audi Q5 with HN+ MMI and AMI port. The linked videos in this review can be found on the Amazon product page, about halfway down the page. First, installation is a breeze if you follow these directions in this video: (https://www.amazon.com/live/video/01164518cc654f71b805d2c07f21489d?ref_=cm_sw_em_r_ib_dt_72dOsJE8eYNvr). They are the most detailed and easy to follow that I found and guided me through the entire process with no issues to speak of. Second - AND THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST - immediately after installing and powering on the unit, follow these simple set-up procedures in this video: (https://www.amazon.com/live/video/07c9951a4a574ed88cb5a0a66d979955?ref_=cm_sw_em_r_ib_dt_Al0eO6gHAwSjl). I can't stress enough how important these steps are to getting the unit to play ALL sounds: Siri, media, map directions, etc. through your original car speakers WITHOUT using the AMI or AUX port. Many other instructions out there are for connecting to the AMI port but read on to find why I advise not going this route. So, here's the deal - I installed the unit per the above video but did not notice the set-up video until a few days ago. I used the AMI port for audio and could listen to media and talk to Siri over the car speakers and mic but map directions and any input from Siri related to an app on my phone could not be heard. It wasn't until I found the above set-up video that everything came together. I can now speak directly to Siri through the factory mic and have ALL audio over the car's factory speakers. I can also adjust volume for media and Siri separately - just wait for Siri to start speaking and adjust the volume, your media volume is not affected. However, there is a caveat to this: all related communication comes out of your phone, and I've found if you are messing with your phone while it is connected to the unit and Audi's MMI systems, it can prevent the phone from operating normally and freeze the MMI system. To get out of this situation and get MMI back to normal, you have to follow the above set-up procedures again. No big deal because I shouldn't be messing with my phone when I'm in the car considering this AIRNAVI unit can do almost everything my phone can do. Let me be clear - this is an issue with the Audi MMI system and not this AINAVI head unit. MMI freezes and is totally non-functional. I contacted Customer Care regarding the passenger airbag light which was installed on my car and eliminated by the installation of this unit. Customer Care responded within an hour and had a resolution to my problem. I have found that eliminating the passenger airbag light according to the video instructions above does not affect the passenger airbag from functioning as it originally should. The driver information display indicates when the passenger airbag is on or off, letting you know what the status is - no more annoying PASSENGER AIBAG OFF light glaring at you while driving at night. Finally, it's a 10/10 for Customer Care. As for the unit itself, it is as intuitive as any CarPlay stereo out there. Phone calls are clear and text messages are read to you as you focus on driving. All steering wheel controls function as they should. The speed of swiping is fast, and I haven't noticed any lags. Apps load as quickly as they do on my phone. The touchscreen is bright and very clear. The software loads very quickly when the car is started, and the unit is fully operational well before the Audi MMI system boots up and connects to my phone. Overall, I'm very satisfied and it feels like my Audi is an entirely different car. I highly recommend this AINAVI 10.25 Multimedia touchscreen from HomeCar. ... show more

  • Very good up-grade, but not perfect.
Color: Linux 10.25" Q5 GP
Excellent up-grade for my 2013 Q5 S-line with the Bang-Olufsen multi media. That being said, it is not perfect: After installation the unit causes the Audi MMI system to throw a fault code (no check engine light) which produces flashing red lights (upper and lower) on the right side of the center control knob. I thought that the unit was defective so I replaced it with another, but it did the same thing. I have a Ross-Tech VAG software code reader, and the code is no comm with the head unit, a low priority fault with no functionality problems other than the microphone button on the steering wheel does not work. The resolution of the back-up camera is now grainy, but usable. The sound system is not quite as crisp as factory, but acceptable. All other original functions of the car seem intact, and the unit is well executed and looks factory. ... show more
