I'm an audiophile. I have a decent setup in my barn, a big system in my vehicle, and pairs of studio headphones and monitor earbuds. I love music and the equipment that can reproduce it. I'm always looking for new additions or upgrades, and a vehicle can never have too many subwoofers, so when I saw this offering I had to try it. This is a self-contained sub and amp system. You will need to run power, ground, turn-on line, and signal. It comes with power and ground wires, but they are incredibly thin, and I don't think the 60 amp fuse is low enough for this wire. I upgraded to some 8 gauge instead of the included what appears to be 12 gauge. Installation difficulty just depends on your vehicle and where you're installing it. I have a Jeep Wrangler, so it's very easy for me to pull carpet and run lines. Make sure to turn down the gain and bass boost before running it the first time, my amp came with both turned up to max which could have blown it. The sub came with a line-output converter, which takes regular speaker output lines and turns it into a usable RCA signal for the amplifier. This way you can tap into a factory stereo that doesn't have native RCAs. So far it works very well! It's not a powerhouse at 200 watts RMS (ignore the "max" rating), but in a sealed box with a 10" sub it does a pretty good job. The bass is tight and accurate, and the very low sub-audible end has a nice rumble. There's a knob for gain, bass boost, and LPF. Mine is governed by a signal processor, so I raised it to the highest level so it wouldn't interfere with my DSP. There's also an included bass knob, a fairly generic one, which is find because the generic ones are easy to replace. The sub also has LEDs which are a nice touch. Overall I'm pretty happy with this little sub. It's a nice one-stop purchase to add some bass, and they included a line-output converter which is a nice touch. I removed a star because the included power and ground wires are unsafely thin, and the ground wire was only about a foot long which isn't enough for most applications. That said, once connected (and with bigger wire) it sounds great and works well. I recommend! ... show more

Overall, this is a good all in one kit for a simple Bass upgrade. Its not on Par with More renowned models like the Kicker Hideaway options, but for the price, there's not much to complain about. Comes with mostly all the accessories for the install. Has high level input if working with an OEM radio or a cheaper aftermarket that doesn't have RCA outputs. Even has an external hi-lo converter for OEM integration. The only thing that I can think that is lacking is that for the option on connecting OEM wiring straight to high inputs is that there isn't any extra length of speaker wiring if you need an extension. This is easily fixed by using standard 16 gauge speaker wire from a hardware or electronics store, or even a big box store should have the wire if needed. Mounting hardware is simple and effective. Proper power wire and fuse protection included as well. For the money, this would be a great value option for a simple upgrade or as a gift. Just remember that this isn't going to be a window rattler by any metric, and trying to push it to where that happens will probably damage the amp inside. ... show more

I was a little concerned with this being an all steel housing. It feels solid and built extremely well but metal usually isn't the best when it comes to things that need sound or things that could generate heat. Somehow, it works but ONLY if it's installed properly. You have to screw this in and install it into a solid base. Installing it onto a wood plank and THE into your car would be best to give it a bit more breathing room even know there aren't intakes on the bottom. But it works and it works well! ... show more
