I managed to get round it with the app based opener (you need to buy and install a special kit) but there is nothing easier than popping in a code sometimes. Despite changing batteries I couldn’t get my existing controller to work. So I ordered this and hoped it would work. And it did. First time. Programming was a breeze. My 19 year old Genie ACSD1G key pad died after we had the house power washed. I got this one to replace it. The set up was very easy and fast to do. The directions included with the package were accurate and easy to follow. The new key pad is a little smaller than the old one, so I had to drill a new mounting hole and patch the old hole. The new one also uses two AA batteries (included two alkaline batteries) rather than the 9V battery that the old one used. I am very pleased with this key pad.

We had a tech out to service our garage doors and replace a broken keypad. Tech could not get the new keypad (he had brought) to connect to our 2004 garage door opener. Said our openers were too old. (They ARE old!) I googled around and found this one on Amazon that said it was compatible with older GENIE openers. It arrived the next day. Hubby climbed up on a ladder to push the LEARN button on the opener, I followed the simple instructions to program the new keypad, and VOILA it worked the first time. One minute. Highly recommend.

You can always find a replacement but this one sure hits the home run. It comes with a battery already just in case you needed one. You can always replace it easy unlike the 10 y/o old I got, you gotta remove the whole thing to access it. It is also fast to program. It takes literally 5 mins for you it to start working. Few buttons and it will actually activate. Now the true test of time and weather will determine how long this will last.

When my garage keypad control stopped working I contacted the original company who installed the door. Yes, they had a replacement which I bought for $79.99 (ouch right). The next day I called their competitor and their replacement was less at $65, but they told me quietly I could find the same thing at Amazon for much less. I returned the $80 keypad and bought this one, it's the exact same keypad and for a reasonable price.
