Programming is easy. But this remote is absolute garbage. Range limited, often requires multiple presses. Not a stellar replacement remote. Would NOT purchase again. Seller less than helpful, says to press the remote multiple times. Suggest you look elsewhere.

I have the Liftmaster side roller model 8500. This remote looks pretty much like the original keys that broke. It's pretty easy to pair up, but only after I found the user manual for my door opener. I spent a good deal of time wondering how to pair it as the door opener wouldn't pair using the yellow button on the machine. Regardless of the blinking or solid mode on the keys, nothing happened. After looking up the user manual for the door opener, I saw a side note on the manual that says remotes could not be paired directly to the machine. You have to use the separate control pad that controls the garage door. On the panel, there's a cover and under it has a button that says "learn". Just hold that for 2 seconds until it lights up and then click the key you want paired. It worked immediately. I could open, pause, and close the door with each subsequent click. The range is decent, I tried it from at least 80 feet away but you need a direct line of site as a building partially in between reduces the range. ... show more
