This is not a specific issue to this product, but I wish I had done more research on the 'head' value to understand the right strength pump to purchase. This one does the job well and continuously (run it about 9 hours a day for multiple days in a row without issue.). We are changing the water in our 1,600 gallon pool . The Lanchez Q9003 3/4 HP Submersible Utility Pump looked good to help us with the job. It was highly rated and reasonably priced so, we bought one. It arrived fast and we went right to work. I liked the gear clamp they provided to attach the hose to the pump. A trip to the hardware store was avoided. Once things were setup and ready, the pump went right to work and you could actually see the water going down. I greatly under estimated how fast the pump would remove all the water. There was very little water left in the pool that took very little to remove with a wet dry vac. This was the first pump I have owned and it greatly worked beyond what we expected. It made a really hard job easy. Plug it in and the water is gone. This is one of the best things we have bought in awhile. Draining and cleaning the pool is a whole new project. We will never play three hundred dollars to watch someone from the pool store do it for us. ... show more

I purchased 2 pumps because of the high gph output, the lift, the 1.6 hp motor rating and low price. It's a very powerful pump that I use in my koi pond's waterfall application. I'm hoping that longevity will be equal to its performance. My first pump locked up after 4 - 5 months. I'm using the second pump now. I'm hoping this one lasts at least 2 to 3 years. Because I like this particular pump so much I've actually purchased 2 more pumps. The cost of these 4 pumps is comparable to one name brand pump that may also last 2 to 3 years. I'm hoping that longevity is not an issue because it's performance is really exceptional. Time will tell. I'll update this review as necessary to provide longterm performance results. Longevity does not seem to be an issue. My second pump is going on it's second season and I'm pleased with it's performance. ... show more
