  • Good value for money
Color: JT-A
I received this unit two days back and played an hour so here are my initial impressions. I'll add more later. I used to be a competitive TT player and had a USATT rating of about 1850. I used to own the Newgy 1040 TT robot for a few years. Then it developed jamming problems and couldn't be used anymore. This unit is almost an exact replacement for the Newgy 1040. Shipping was fast. The unit is carefully packaged against damage and all the components are wrapped in individual plastic bags. The instruction manual that came with it has the wrong instructions on how to assemble the net. Also the manual isn't written by a native English speaker but on the whole the manual does make sense. The incorrect part is that the two curved iron supports don't go to the two corners of the net but to the center of the net and arch out from there. I'll add a picture of the setup. Other than that the setup is quick and easy and isn't challenging at all. It's a very useful ball machine on the whole to practice, improve one's basic strokes such as drive against top/back/sidespin, practicing topspin shots and also backspin shots. Even at the lowest ball frequency setting it seems to spit out balls at about a rate of 20 balls/min. That's a pretty fast clip since playing at that speed will tire me out in about 10 min. Depends on your fitness. One complaint I have is that at low speed settings, the machine doesn't work all that well. For low speed play, I have to incline the head a lot so the ball can cross the net. That makes the ball very high and very loopy. I think this is a consequence of he head positioning. If the height of the head was adjustable maybe it'll help. I'll add more about this later. It can be an excellent aerobic exercise as well. If you put it on full oscillation and play only with forehand or backhand and cover the whole table you'll be sweating in a few minutes. It also requires absolute technique. So, one warning about that: you need to know how to play. Look up some instructions videos on you tube. Get your technique right. Start slow and easy and develop your game. It'll be great if you have someone to show you how to play and correct your technique. All racquet sports are technical and you can't just start playing. You will develop very bad habits. If you go that way, this machine will frustrate you. I hope this machine has good quality and will perform well for years to come. It can be a very fun and rewarding experience becoming a better player. ... show more

  • Pretty a decent machine with quality control issue
Color: JT-A
I spent a week and plus on troubleshooting the unit I received. The issue, by appearance, was on the oscillator that was not placing balls to the corresponding area when the two tabs were set at the designated positions. For instance, when the tabs are set at 3&4, based on the user manual, the balls should be projected to the table area edge to edge. Indeed, it was not doing that. The technical support was very responsive and helped me to pin-point the root cause. At last, provided with a video clip in Chinese by the vendor, it was found that those two tabs were not locked into its designated position on the oscillation head. As the result, those two tabs (3&4) selection was not synced into oscillation at all. It took me about 10min to fix this issue and the oscillation is covering the whole table now (3&4 tab selection). This is a QC issue actually. If the unit had been inspected by QC, by maybe just a quick glim on that, I would be in no trouble with it. Pros: 1. Very easy to install onto and remove from table 2. A lot of features 3. Fun to play with 4. Responsive customer support: Seems they are located in China. Expect 12 hours delay in between. 5. Comes with Ping Pong balls though not mentioned in the product description Cons: 1. Horrible instruction manual in English. You can definitely do better. 2. No instruction manual in Chinese. I personal prefer a copy of the manual in Chinese :) I would have given it 5 stars if that glitch were caught by QC. Just received it for about 3 weeks. Will update if there is anything worth of mentioning in the coming days. ... show more

  • good performance but has some defects in design
Color: JT-A
after using just for a few times, it stopped oscillate. first, it does work well at the beginning. but soon after using it for a few times, it stopped oscillate. it is a major function for this device. so I contacted seller. I got pretty quick reply from seller. that is a plus and the reason I changed from 1 start to 4. The seller pointed out how to fix it. and I disassembled this head of the device and noticed the problem is design defect on it---the small bar from the motor is too short, only about 2-3 mm longth. that make it easy to lost position to stirring the 2 plastic bars that make the head moving. For this price, they can make it more solid and durable by make it longer and use metal instead of plastics. I don't know how long the plastic can last but looks like easy to be broken. I give it 4 start because it dose bring a lot of fun and the seller did reply my questions on time. should it change the design, I will give 5 star. ... show more

  • Great product from a company I've never heard of
Color: JT-A
I had previously owned a Newgy 1040, but I had lots of problems with it after about 4 months. After going back and forth with Newgy, I just gave up and tossed the old tennis robot. After about a year, I decided to look for a replacement. I had looked at the very expensive Butterfly lineup, but I wasn't ready to commit to spending $1200+ for a robot. I found this one after doing a few searches online on expert sites geared toward professional training. This robot was called out as the best value, and a great machine. After having it now for a few months, I have to agree. It was REALLY easy to setup - no screws to attach to your table, it actually has a pretty ingenious way of attaching at the end of the table. The side nets are secured by very simple compression screws that won't scuff your table surface. I had mine unboxed, setup, and running in about 10 minutes. The control switch is intuitive with plenty of configurable options. It has held up very well so far, with no signs of slowing down. I also appreciated that they supplied two extra rubber wheels (the pieces that spin in the head unit to launch the balls), and they look very easy to replace if needed in the future. ... show more
