In order to cook hard rice bran and the rice inside, preheating time is extended for better absorption of water, and is cooked at a lower temperature to allow the rice to cook longer without becoming mushy. Sushi Rice Because sushi rice will be processed after it's cooked, it's easier to handle when it is a little firmer. This menu setting is very similar to regular white rice, but uses less water (adjusted by the water fill lines) for a firm finish. Mixed Mixed rice is rice cooked with additional ingredients and seasonings. This setting extends preheating for better absorption of seasoning. Also, the cooking temperature is slightly lower than regular white rice, to avoid ingredients from boiling over. Porridge Instead of cooking rice in larger amounts of water and risk making it sloppy, use the porridge setting to cook fluffy porridge. Cooking temperature is slightly lower than regular white rice, to be cooked longer for soft texture. Steam Steam your favorite foods. Steaming function can be lengthened or shortened by adjusting time setting. MICOM (Microcomputer) Technology Aided by microcomputer technology, this category of rice cooker takes having rice on your menu from “occasional” to “serious”. Basically, the microchip does all the thinking for you, as far as adjusting cooking times and temperatures according to the type of rice you are cooking, and timing the pre-soaking of the raw grains and the final “wait” . MICOM allows the cooker to have multiple functions on its menu, making it a necessity for any avid rice fan who wants to incorporate rice into their daily diet. How it Works Conventional rice cookers simply turn on and off in reaction to temperature. The “fuzzy logic” of MICOM fine tunes this adjustment to adapt to various rice types, such as white, brown, sweet or porridge, which all has different cooking requirements. The trigger to everything is the thermal sensor, a small round button at the bottom of the inner body of the cooker. As the inner pan’s weight rests on it and activates the sensor, it starts the cooking process and keeps an eye on the temperature and time. Key Features: Convenient detachable inner lid for easy cleaning. Stay-cool side handles make removal of the inner cooking pan quick and easy. Spherical inner cooking pan provides even heating for better cooker.

  • Better than the stainless electric skillet
Style: Skillet
Excellent product. I have had 2 stainless electric skillets in the past. These are much better. The temperature control is very easy to adjust and it does get hot very quickly. They are also easy to clean since the inner pot is removable. The electrical plug also appears to be much safer. After a test trial, purchased 3 more for family members. ... show more

  • One of the best kitchen appliances I've ever owned
Style: Skillet
This has honestly been a blessing in the kitchen, and I use it more than I thought I would, and for more. I originally purchased this intending to use it for hot pot, but after seeing how well it worked and how easy it was to clean, I decided to try it for other things. I've made breakfast in this (eggs, hash browns, pancakes, bacon, etc.), slow-simmered a small roast, grilled a few things from burgers to burritos, and after cleaning each time it still looks and works as it did the day I received it. It's not only now my favorite kitchen appliance, overtaking even my Instant Pot, but it has totally sold me on the Zojirushi brand. Their products can be more expensive than others, but if this is any indicator, the quality is excellent and well worth the investment. I love this so much that I bought one for my family that lives across the country - hopefully that they use it as much as I do, but if not, then at least there will be one there for me to use when I happen to visit! ... show more

  • Perfect size and works great! Made for Japanese hot pot stew :)
Style: Skillet
I love this electric nabe pot so much!! It heats up fast - you must keep lid on to get broth boiling. It holds enough nabe (Japanese hot pot) stew ingredients for four people at a time, maybe a little more. Don't let the depth fool you - you can fit a lot in here! I use it for cooking nabe all winter long. I have also sauteed in it when my stove was occupied by too many pots. Keep in mind that the primary use for this is to heat liquid or semi-liquid foods like stews and broths, even fondues. That is why the bottom of the pot is slightly concave because it is not meant to be a flat frying pan. I think Zojirushi tries to demonstrate American recipes in order to market some of their products in the US, when these products were really intended to make certain Japanese recipes. So some people get confused about how this kind of pot isn't perfectly flat on the bottom, or wonder if it's supposed to be like a crock pot slow cooker, etc. The concave bottom helps with heat distribution and it is made for cooking soup-type foods to be eaten immediately AT THE TABLE while you cook, like nabe, sukiyaki, shabu shabu. If you can find other creative uses, that's great! But don't expect it to do all things as if it wasn't primarily an electric Japanese stew pot. It's also super easy to clean, and very safe with the cord that unplugs if tugged while in use so it doesn't still the pot all over. And electric is much safer than those gas canister nabe burners I used to have! If you are considering this one, the EP-PBC10 or the other Zojirushi model EP-RAC50 that has two inner pots (one deep and one shallow), I highly suggest getting this one, the EP-PBC10. The reason is because the depth of the pot makes zero difference if you are sauteeing food, which is what Zojirushi tries to say the shallow pot is for with the EP-RAC50. But I checked out that model in person at a store, and the shallow pot still has the slightly concave bottom as the deep pots, so it doesn't make any difference when sauteeing. You could do the sauteeing in the deeper pot. The inner pot that comes with this EP-PBC10 model is in between the two sizes of the pots with the EP-RAC50. I find the one pot that comes with this EP-PBC10 model to hold enough volume for the four-person nabe stew cooking I do. If I had the EP-RAC50, I would probably never use the shallow pot, and the deeper pot would be bigger than I need. I hope this helps anyone else who wondered the same things that I did about these two models. ... show more

  • Fantastic, so easy to use and clean.
Style: Skillet
Controls are super simple and easy while you're cooking. Extremely easy to clean because of the separate pot. My only question is once the coating on the pot starts wearing down, where to find a replacement for it.

  • Finally, an electric skillet that doesn't use a coil
Style: Skillet
The main selling point of this skillet for me was the fact that it doesn't use a coil that's built into the base of the cooking surface. Instead, it uses a removable non stick bowl that rests on a circular surface exactly the same size as the base of the bowl. This results in more even heating of the surface and less wear and tear on the non stick surface. If you've used traditional electric skillets, you've probably noticed that the non stick coating tends to peel/bubble around the area where the heating element/coil is. I'm happy to report no bubbling or flaking during the time I have been using this since May of 2011. There are some light surface scuffs presumably from stirring items and washing the bowl (which is super easy to clean) but nothing compromising the coating itself. You should have no problems with this along as you stick to using silicone or wood cooking tools. Again, because of the way that this skillet operates, it's very easy and predictable to cook with. It does tend to "hold" the heat for a longer period of time than some other skillet designs. As one other reviewer mentioned, the "keep warm" setting is actually better for simmering than the actual simmer setting on the slider. Overall, I'm really happy with this skillet, but I'm taking off one star because of the fact that the power cable has a strong chemical/rubber smell that refuses to go away. ... show more

  • BEST GRILL in the market now
Style: Skillet
We have been looking around to replace our old Sanyo grill (which was great but used for more than 10 years) and couldn't find anything good/comparable in the market. We tried several and they all work poorly...until we got this. Note that we use this for Korean BBQ purposes. We were skeptical at first since this one does not have grill mark...but it works. Awesome fire power, EASIER to clean (better than the one with grill mark) and of course, when you buy a Zojirushi, you can expect a Zojirushi quality. The depth of this will block the oil splash and the plug is safer than most of the other grills, so this is highly recommended. ... show more
