First off, the price clearly justifies itself because this is a quality peice. The metal skillet can be removed when hot, via the insulated handles. It also has a second set of handles so you can move the entire unit while hot. The outer 'shell', stays cool. There is no 'hot bottom' as with other skillets. I did a test with a full pan of water, and it boiled in less than 10 minutes with the lid on... however, I learned that with the lid off, it will only lightly boil. So, don't expect a full pan to actually have a 'rolling boil'. I did try it with about a half inch of oil, and it did get to the highest temp that I set it at within minutes. The 'pan' is about one eight inch thick, so it does have plenty of metal for a pan. Not flimsy. Over all, I guess that the only downside is that it will only lightly boil when it has a full pan of liquid uncovered. Covered, however, does give a rolling boil. But otherwise, it does do a great job, and handling, ergonomics, etc.... it's a fantastic buy for the price. Given the other 'skillets' that are around 20 - 30 bucks, I would easily buy this again any day. I've also used it while camping. I use a honda generator and breakfast (AND hot water for coffee took less that 15 minutes. That beats having to smell like charcoal or burning wood / smoke. This thing is a beast. I love this electric nabe pot so much!! It heats up fast - you must keep lid on to get broth boiling. It holds enough nabe (Japanese hot pot) stew ingredients for four people at a time, maybe a little more. Don't let the depth fool you - you can fit a lot in here! I use it for cooking nabe all winter long. I have also sauteed in it when my stove was occupied by too many pots. Keep in mind that the primary use for this is to heat liquid or semi-liquid foods like stews and broths, even fondues. That is why the bottom of the pot is slightly concave because it is not meant to be a flat frying pan. I think Zojirushi tries to demonstrate American recipes in order to market some of their products in the US, when these products were really intended to make certain Japanese recipes. So some people get confused about how this kind of pot isn't perfectly flat on the bottom, or wonder if it's supposed to be like a crock pot slow cooker, etc. The concave bottom helps with heat distribution and it is made for cooking soup-type foods to be eaten immediately AT THE TABLE while you cook, like nabe, sukiyaki, shabu shabu. If you can find other creative uses, that's great! But don't expect it to do all things as if it wasn't primarily an electric Japanese stew pot. It's also super easy to clean, and very safe with the cord that unplugs if tugged while in use so it doesn't still the pot all over. And electric is much safer than those gas canister nabe burners I used to have! If you are considering this one, the EP-PBC10 or the other Zojirushi model EP-RAC50 that has two inner pots (one deep and one shallow), I highly suggest getting this one, the EP-PBC10. The reason is because the depth of the pot makes zero difference if you are sauteeing food, which is what Zojirushi tries to say the shallow pot is for with the EP-RAC50. But I checked out that model in person at a store, and the shallow pot still has the slightly concave bottom as the deep pots, so it doesn't make any difference when sauteeing. You could do the sauteeing in the deeper pot. The inner pot that comes with this EP-PBC10 model is in between the two sizes of the pots with the EP-RAC50. I find the one pot that comes with this EP-PBC10 model to hold enough volume for the four-person nabe stew cooking I do. If I had the EP-RAC50, I would probably never use the shallow pot, and the deeper pot would be bigger than I need. I hope this helps anyone else who wondered the same things that I did about these two models. ... show more

I really love zojirushi products all around, this electric skillet didn't let me down! I've made many meals in it now, and even shallow fried. I have learned how to use it properly for the best outcome, of course, the secret will be in giving it proper time to heat up. The pan has not scratched in my kitchen yet, and I am pretty careless with storage/dumping it in the sink with other dishes... so it's for sure high quality coating. I love how easy it makes it to cook anywhere with an outlet! Even on the go with a powerbox! I have my propane gas stove back now, but I love knowing I have this amazing cooking tool for when ever I need it for what ever reason! It's big enough to cook for about 4 people. ... show more

I've only used it twice, but I really liked it. It's big enough to make almost anything. It heats evenly and it's easy to deal with because the outside is cool and the inside pot has cool handles. It's also super easy to clean because the pot comes out of the base. I wish I had purchased one long ago and I will definitely purchase another if I decide I need two. ... show more

This has honestly been a blessing in the kitchen, and I use it more than I thought I would, and for more. I originally purchased this intending to use it for hot pot, but after seeing how well it worked and how easy it was to clean, I decided to try it for other things. I've made breakfast in this (eggs, hash browns, pancakes, bacon, etc.), slow-simmered a small roast, grilled a few things from burgers to burritos, and after cleaning each time it still looks and works as it did the day I received it. It's not only now my favorite kitchen appliance, overtaking even my Instant Pot, but it has totally sold me on the Zojirushi brand. Their products can be more expensive than others, but if this is any indicator, the quality is excellent and well worth the investment. I love this so much that I bought one for my family that lives across the country - hopefully that they use it as much as I do, but if not, then at least there will be one there for me to use when I happen to visit! ... show more
