Been using Zmodo for 5-6 years and they started not being as good at night and it was time to replace them. Daylight times are always good. 100% happy. Will buy them again as needed. Great price. Recommend people buy a DVR for 100% coverage or you are stuck with 15 second clips of movement.

Of the four pack, two worked great, one had very poor night vision, and one had significant issues with displaying appropriate colors. The company quickly provided replacements for the two malfunctioning cameras. Pros: --Easy to set up. --Easy to mount. --Sturdy enough. --The phone app has a screen that shows all four cameras at once. --The phone app has the option to immediately start recording. --The night vision is better than I expected for the price. --I can grant access to other users Cons: --It 100% requires an active internet connection (it will not function on a wifi network alone) --There is a lag. Normally, it's 3-4 seconds. At times, it's 3-4 minutes. I assume this is due to network speed issues somewhere between here and wherever their servers are based. --While I can see all four cameras at once on my small phone screen, the web app you can access from a computer will not. You can view only one camera at a time, and they frequently time out and must be reloaded. You would not be able to use this system to have a "live look" constantly up on a screen somewhere. --The web app does not have a button to start recording. --The web app makes me log in each time I open it. It won't "remember me". This is pretty annoying if the dog is barking and I want to take a quick peek to see what's up out there. ... show more

    • 3 bad refurbished units non-working night vision

Purchased one refurbished camera, which I have done prior from EZoomTech. First, everything worked fine for a few weeks then the night vision gave out and was only working if turned to always on. When night vision was on you could see nothing due to a haze on the lens. I returned the camera and they sent a new refurb. This one the night vision again won't work on auto and will work on always on. But the same thing is a ring of haze on the left side of the camera. I am working with the seller on a third unit and will update the process once the new cam arrives. 3 stars so far on how the seller is handling the returns. *update - Changing my review to one star, 3rd camera is doing the same, they did send an RMA and re-sent a different camera this third time. But it is still doing the same thing and has the haze ring on the left side like the two other cameras only when night vision is on. I should have just bought a new camera instead of the refurbished one. Since the camera does work I will move it to my front porch where we leave the lights on all the time so no night vision is needed. Sad, this didn't work out in the past the previous cam I purchased from them has worked perfectly. *Update Decided to purchase the 2-pack of NEW Zmodo cams and they work flawlessly. The actual metal casing of this camera was broken. So the next camera I got out of the box was intact. I hung it up. I now have twelve of these cameras. I love them. The 720p cameras were a little harder to install when I originally bought them. These 1080p cameras installed very easily using the QR code. The picture is exactly what you would expect. The only thing that is a little irksome is running the power cables. But you will have to do that with any camera that is not battery powered and wireless. The night vision works really well out to about 20-30 feet for me, depending on conditions. I have only had issues with 1 of the 12 cameras over the last 3 years. That issue was a cable issue that I created myself. The motion detection is sensitive. Brite light, to shade will trigger it. So just set your motion boxes or alerts accordingly. I don't mind it, but it might bother some people. I am not saying Zmodo is the best camera out there. I am not saying I would never use anything else, but I will say that I will buy more of these, and I do recommend them. For there cost, and ease of use they are well worth it. I am not sold on cloud-based anything... let alone security video storage. Their options are cheap and probably work but I don't use them so can't really review them. Some of the features from the cloud service would be nice to have, but if I wanted to go that route I would get the IP cameras instead. ... show more
