This bed is made of solid wood. The finish is uniform and lustrous. Once assembled, the bed is sturdy. Even more to the point, the design for assembly shows attention to detail and enhances the bed. I read about 5 complaints from other reviews. Three of these gave me pause about buying this product. The first is that the bed was difficult to assemble. I cannot conceive of anyone of normal intelligence having difficulty assembling this bed. The parts are clearly labeled and matched with stickers. The instructions are pictorial and easy to follow. The company even provides a ratchet Allen wrench to make the job easier. The second complaint related to sturdiness. One said the metal bars were flimsy and provided photos of bent metal to prove it. I'm not sure what this professed 150lb fellow received, but the metal bars I received are sturdy and quality. Indeed, I am confident that this bed is stable up to the advertised weight limit, which is well above what any mattress and two healthy adults would weigh together. The third complaint was the materials are of poor quality. Again, photos were provided of split wood, probably from the headboard piece, itself. I'm not sure why this piece split on this consumer, but I can say that the pieces I received had no splits, and if the instructions were followed correctly with the correct bolts, I believe it's highly unlikely that any of these pieces would splinter or split. The fourth complaint was that the bolts weren't long enough to attach the headboard. Again, I had no issue. The bolts come in a blister pack and are clearly labeled. If the correct bolts are selected at each step per the instructions, their lengths are perfect for assembly. Finally, some complained that there were no finishing plugs to cover the boltholes. Here, I agree. While this is a great and beautiful bed, the icing on the cake would have been if the manufacturer included finished bolthole caps. So, in all, I think that this is a beautiful, sturdy bed frame, designed to hold a reasonable amount of weight. It is a good value for the money. Certainly beats IKEA by a long shot. ... show more

I ordered this for my 10 year old daughter. She wanted a simple but attractive bed. I wanted the bed to be hardwood so it will last at least a decade. The bed is solid hardwood (pine I believe) and it is stained dark. The wood is soft and can be dented fairly easily. But it is attractive and was easily assembled in about 30 minutes including unpacking. Mine arrived double boxed and the styrofoam was sealed in plastic wrap which made clean up a breeze. This is a great bed frame, especially for this price. Fairly lightweight but it looks and feels high quality and it's very sturdy once it's together. The instructions suggest two people assemble it, but I managed it just fine by myself.

The first one I received could not be assembled, the headboard was defective. However, it was quickly replaced by a new one that could be assembled (the process is very easy btw). I've slept on this bed for about two weeks, and I'm pretty satisfied. It feels sturdy enough, though I haven't really tested it. It looks really good, rather classy. Headboard is of decent size, which is not usually the case for cheap bed frames. I use a 10 in mattress and the space under the headboard is great for that size, anything smaller and the pillow is probably going to start to jam between the headboard and mattress. I like that there are no rails to hold the mattress in place (which is done by some tape), as this means I can easily stretch the mattress cover sheet in the morning. The space beneath the bed can be used to store stuff, I keep my dirty laundry bag there alongside some bags and suitcases. I could not fit my trekking backpack or a large suitcase, but I keep those in a closet so no big deal. Overall I'm happy with my purchase, and I'm only giving it 4 stars because of the original defective unit (i.e. there needs to be better quality control). ... show more

We moved and needed a smaller bed and new mattress but decided to put as much of our budget into the mattress as possible and go with a simple platform bed without spending too much. We wanted a headboard to lean on and a color that would contrast with the rest of our furniture. This bed looks nicer than expected and seems sturdy enough. Assembly was pretty straightforward and the slats were particularly easy and pleasant to attach. The only negative I can find are that it would have been nice for the mattress to sit down into the frame just a little to keep it from shifting around but I don't think it will be much of a problem since it's 14" and pretty heavy. For us, this is a minor concern. We've only spent a few nights on it so far, but if it holds up well we'll be very pleased. ... show more

I read a lot of reviews before buying this. I was nervous I'd get something wobbly or with cheap looking or feeling wood. It's solid. Easy to put together (came with all the tools you need). Does not look or feel cheap. Just buy it if you like the look and stop researching reviews. Pro tip: if you have hardwood floors, buy rubber grips to attach to the bottom of the bed and it won't wiggle or move one bit! ... show more
