After receiving a defective unit that was defective from the manufacturing process (this can happen with any product); the seller upon being notified of my return, reached out to me to ensure me that they were concerned about my experience and assured me that they would send me a unit that was not defective, until the unit arrived, the seller went out of their way to keep me up to date with the progress of my new unit.     • It energetic!
It's a pretty typical level 2 charger with a plastic face that covers the internal bits. It's a hardwire only, but you can hook up an appropriate plug to connect to a nearby outlet. The face cover is plastic, I was a bit surprised when I pulled it off - if this is going to be outside, it will not fare too well (in my opinion). The only real feature is the RFID card which you need to start the charge, for an outdoor charger that is a pretty decent feature if you don't want anyone stealing your power. I didn't dig far into the manual, so I'm not sure if there is a way to disable that "feature" if you have it in a secure location like your garage, or you are far from anyone who would likely stop by for a quick boost. I don't see any features were you can slow down the rate, but you can tweak that on the car side. Overall it charges the car as you'd expect. My local power co give a rebate on the rate if you have a smart charger that they approve, this isn't on the list and does not have internet connectivity, so definitely not going to get any discount for usage. If you need a straightforward charger that has some security, this isn't a bad deal. If you are into metrics, etc. you may want to spend a bit more for a fuller featured device. ... show more

    • Good value for a 32 amp level 2 charger
We needed a second charger for our Plug-In Hybrid EV and found this Zhidatech Level 2 EV Charger to be a good value. It works as expected comparable to our other unit. We had a 50 amp receptacle box ready to go and we're using an adapter to match the correct plug. We don't need the optional RFID card security feature since it's installed inside our garage, but that's an interesting and valuable option for those that plan to install the charger outdoors in a public space. Our other charger has a 25 foot cord, but the 16 foot cord on this unit meets our needs as well. If 16 feet is not enough for your install location, this would be a disappointment. If you're not convinced that your EV needs a level 2 charger, we encourage you to consider how much faster it is to get the car back to full range compared to an over-night charge. We often need a quick charge to accomplish a local mid-morning or afternoon trip and don't have the time to wait for the slow charge cycle. ... show more

I am pleased with this charger. Everything feels well made from the enclosure to the heavy cables. The length of the cable is something to consider and at 20' there is enough to get the plug where you need it. I have had no issues with this charger such as overheating ect.
