  • Excellent Quality
Thick walled and sturdy. Well built but easy to handle, best wok I’ve found; I have been going to oriental grocery stores for years and always look at their woks, this wok is more expensive but so much better. It will last for years with proper care. Be sure to season it properly before using.

  • Great YOSUKATA Carbon Steel Wok Pan - 14 " Wok
I would say the YOSUKATA Carbon Steel Wok was designed and built with quality. Heat distribution around the wok appears evenly. Because of heat distribution evenly around the wok, food is cooked perfectly and tasted way better as compared to ordinary wok. The wok is supper easy to clean since it has the rounded bottom. ... show more

  • Not worth the money
Have had a handful of no name woks, wanted to get a higher quality wok something nicer to be proud of. But this wok fell short of that. For the price and the pre seasoned coating this wok should be a finished product. I had to file down the rough edges along the entire edge of the wok. My no name woks had clean edges to start with. The pre seasoned coating is really not that great. I kept having to scrub off residue after every use. After many meals cooked, the residue continued to stay behind and scrubbing would not completely remove it. Finally used sand paper to remove the residue and re seasoned the pan. Now the pan is super slick in the ereas I sanded and the areas with the original pre seasoning are not as slick, meaning that if you don't remove the original pre seasoning and try to build on that You will never truly have a super slick surface because the pre seasoning has a sort of texture to it to begin with. So unless you want to sand down or burn of the pre seasoning and want to clean up the rough edges of your wok I would look elsewhere. One more complaint is that this wok is a bit heavier than my no name 14 inch wok, makes tossing the food harder. Also because of the weight you will find your hand has to grip onto the metal part of the handle to be able to toss the food rendering the purpose us of the wooden handle useless if the goal is to avoid a hot handle. Bad: heavier than no name woks, pre seasoning is no good if you seek to have a super slick wok. You can sand or burn it off but you are removing a coating you paid money for. Edges of wok are rough. Unless you don't mind a little project I would avoid this wok. Good: not flimsy and will last forever but also heavier than no name woks. Although it is a round bottom wok, it is a bit flatter than the common round bottom wok and will work ok on flat gas ranges. ... show more

  • Excellence
Seasoned greatly Great size Nice balance Handle is strong and comfortable The steel is of high quality and is a nice gauge This is the first and only time I have ever recommended a flat bottom (use a wok ring for stove tops).

  • Perfect wok for my use.
I have enjoyed it. It gets super hot and I use it with my Samsung wok adapter on my gas stove.

  • has balance issues
I'm using this on my Bluestar range with a 25000 BTU burner. Instead of a wok ring, I'm using it with the burner grate removed which leaves a round depressions perfect for a medium size wok (this is the Bluestar way with woks). This review is based on 2 months of near daily use. When sitting on my burner the wok wants to tip towards the handle. This is true even with a lot of ingredients in the wok. Even when it is filled with oil more than half way up (e.g., when making tempura) it still wants to tip towards then handle. This can be a hazard. This is a non-issue with stir flying since you're mostly holding it. It's also a little on the heavy side. That said, it performs really well in all other ways. It heats up really quickly. It takes and holds a seasoning well. The wood handle is beginning to wobble (I've never left it in water, but wood swells and contracts in a typical kitchen environment regardless). Not a big deal for now, and if it becomes an issue I'm sure I can address it easily. The wok itself will probably last forever. ... show more

  • While it isn't totally light, it Woks very well!
Woks just great. Have to pay attention to seasoning it well and then it's going to be pretty non-stick. This piece I believe approaches 'pro' level. I could see a cook using it all day for some or many steps of cooking a dish. Several dishes! Wok cooking, stir-fry, takes a good bit of prep work. Then you're heating a smidge of oil and dancing ingredients lightly through the cooking cycle. This wok is not totally lightweight¹ . It could be lighter, but then it might be bendy, and, it might not hold or distribute heat well enough to do this type of cooking well. The super high heat along with a pan that you season a little each time you cook² is the only way to achieve 'wok-hai', the true fragrance of Chinese cooking. A good pan, well aeasoned, is a tool, and as such, gains an attractive appearance though function's form. Buy. ¹ the handle is a good one, socketed, and attached with two screws so it can be replaced when the seasoned steel outlives it by 200 years; it tends to cause that one side to sink a bit; maybe a cast-iron hob ring will hold it better, but as the bottom is round, it cooks fine at a slight angle ² always heat the pan, then add a little oil, just enough that you can swish around and coat the pan, let it get to smoking hot, then pour off the oil safely and discard when cooled. Now the pan is ready, it will be non-stick. The oil carmelizes, and polymerizes, creating or adding to a coating that is the seasoning. Only add oil to a hot pan ³ don't forget to get a stainless, long-handled spatula for stir-frying and other cooking types in this pan; it's already the perfect shape, and the length will keep your hands out of the flames. Tip: wipe it with a tiny amount of any food-safe oil each time you use it so it's more nonstick too ... show more
