the lock itself is great but the handle is poor. they do not tell you that this only works on certain doors. the handles are not compatible with the "handling" of our door and they are not adjustable. they do not mention this on the website. could have just bought the lock for 200 and not had wasted an extra 100 dollars on the handles.. .sigh ... show more

I've installed locks enough time that I mostly did not need instructions. There is one part that I stress keeping your eye on. This little slotted indexed bit that I photoed. Luckily, it fell out the first time when I was doing parts inventory. The second time, I did not notice it until I tried to install the controller. It is needed to actually turn the flat rod that rotates to control the bolt from the opened to closed positions. It is really small and very easy to lose. Without this little piece, the install is useless. It should not be able to fall out as easy as it does. Other than that, this lock physically installs as easy as any others. Update: another part fell out. This time on the handle set. The spring loaded button that holds the knob fell out after taking the knob off to make an adjustment. It is quite difficult to put back into the handle tube. Without that button, the knob will not stay on and has nothing to catch on when turning the handle. One other thing different from this lock and my other schlage and kwiksets are that the battery compartment is not removable. So make sure to use the ribbon when inserting the batteries. The controller is much smaller than my other locks, so that is a nice bit of streamlining and modernization. The software part of the install was a little bit of a pain. The QR code sent the app into a loop. Trying to scan the code on the actual lock smart module did not work. It was not until I scanned the paper did it eventually get out of the loop. The software update took a little time, but completed successfully. The lock only works on 2.4 wifi. Fortunately, we have both the 2.4 and 5 network set up. After trying to find the key code programming function, I finally searched online and found a video. That user also looked in the exact same places I did, in the settings. The code programming is actually under ther user settings. This is the first lock I have had that did not include instructions on programming key codes. Once I did it, it worked out fine. The app itself works easily and we are getting used to that. Physically closing the lock, the action is smooth. This lock does not rate as high as our old schlage connect, but hopefully, it lasts longer. ... show more

I replaced my first generation Yale Assure Lock with this one, and I'm glad I did. The bridge for the first one never worked right and constantly disconnected from the network. Not this one. Installation was straight forward, including connection to the internet. My one beef with Yale is the lock requires a 2.4Ghz connection instead of a dual connection with 5Ghz. My phone (a Samsung S20) cannot connect only to 2.4Ghz, so I have to use a cheap Android tablet to set up the lock. The instructions mention this nowhere. The installation instructions on the website includes this for the iOS users, but it says nothing about it for the Android users. Bad form, Yale. ... show more
