We got the Bluetooth model only so it does not connect to wifi. We would only get notifications and be able to lock/unlock if within Bluetooth distance of the lock. But we did set it up with our HomePod for HomeKit connection and then we were able to get notifications even when out of the house! We love that you can have other people have a code too and app access! We set it up so that our families have a code and you can restrict what times the code works! ... show more

    • Configuration not documented and not intuitive. Lock stopped working after two weeks.

I like the design and functionality of the Yale Keyless locks. After my first lock failed (after only three years), I went to Yale for a replacement. This new lock is beautifully designed but so poorly executed. Installation was easy, it perfectly fit the existing lock holes. Unlike the older model, you have to use the app to configure this lock. There are many, many options on the app, almost none of which are documented in the manual. The manual exhaustively documents the many error conditions, but barely describes how to use the lock in the first place! There is one single page on how to use the lock, which did not help me configure the key code. After much exploration and many attempts, I gave up and called customer support for help. Yale has great customer support, fortunately, and the agent was able to direct me to a screen I had not seen to fix my problem. That was two weeks ago. Now, the lock will no long move the deadbolt. I'm going to go back and buy an older model, the Assure SL, and hopefully that will fix me up. ... show more

Great lock, easy to install. We have two of these at our home and love not having to use keys or even use the pad with the smart lock/unlock feature. The one major downside to the Yale locks I've used over the years is the lack of battery level indicator within the mobile app. I just can't wrap my head around why this is not a feature. Our battery-powered Ring cameras have this feature, so I can't imagine why Yale can't seem to integrate this crucial quality of life feature into their products. That being said, *most of the time* you will get an audible or visual alert (blink) on the lock itself to let you know the batteries are low, but even then, it could be one lock/unlock cycle, a day, or days before you need to change the battery. On one instance, our front door lock never made any indication the batteries were low and we ended up locked out, though we do have a backup key. TL;DR: Great locks but the battery life/indicator needs work. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Awesome Product. Easy to install and set up. Works like a charm. No more keys for me or my family members. What I like the most is the Auto-unlocked when you're approaching the door IF you carry your phone with its app. It works just like Auto-unlocked of the car. Another good function is it automatically locked after 2 minutes, so you don't have to worry about forget to lock your door after leaving.     • Drains Battery - Major step down from Assure SL

I bought three of these locks in December 2022 after having owned two Assure SL locks for three years before that. The Assure SL worked well and its programming was intuitive. I installed it, and forgot about it because it worked so well. Not these new Assure Lock 2 locks. I bought three of them in December, and two of them have so far worked reasonably well. The third lock drains the batteries within literally a week - more below. The good - these are good looking locks. A bit slicker even than the SL. Nice black matte finish. They work with Ring, which I use. They feel solidly built. They are easy to install. When you call Yale support, you get a person. The bad (or why they aren't as good as the original SL) - the programming is just not intuitive. It's all done through the app now. Before it was done on the keypad, and that worked great. Once you connect the Yale locks to Ring, it gets even less intuitive. The big benefit of the lock is being able to quickly program in a temporary code - for contractors etc. Now that's really challenging. The keypad - with this lock you have to touch the little Yale icon with one finger at the top instead of just placing your hand over the whole touch pad. Seems like a small issue - but it worked so well before, why change it!? It took them MONTHS to get the z-wave module so that I could connect to Ring. The really bad - the one lock that drains the battery is a major issue. It's not clear to me if it's the lock or the module. Yale is aware of this issue and you can find the link to help you fix the issue. I did all the fixes, and when that did not work called Yale. I got a lot of push back, and they finally told me that my Ring base station was too far away (this lock is closest to the base station, which is within the 15 ft they recommend). I *think* they finally agreed to send me a new lock, though that's not clear from the emails I've received from Yale. Bottom line - I'm not sure the issue is a deal breaker, but I would consider other locks given that the Assure 2 has glitches that the much more basic design of the SL simply did not have. I'll update if the new lock fixes the problem (hoping it's not the module). UPDATE March 2024: I communicated a great deal with Yale about the lock battery drainage issue. They sent me a new lock - against my request, which did the exact same thing. The battery continued to drain. They finally finally sent me a new module. After installation, the battery life has been great. No complaints. So - if you have battery life issues with this lock, it is the MODULE. Fix the module, and you fix the battery life. ... show more
